The "Amul" Generation.
I love the Amul hoardings. If I “get” it then I know I’m on the ball with what’s going down in the motherland.
And now I’m randomly wondering whatever happened to the “I love you Rasna.” girl? Did she make it big or did she end up in the cloudy space of child prodigy’s who were doing so fantastically well but then they grew up. (No offense Jugal Hansraj.) I know the little girl from Mr. India. She’s quite the enigma now too. Presenting Huzaan Khodaiji.

Anyway if you have some time to kill post me a quick comment with what each one of these is about and if you get 5 right I’ll send you something (not butter) for your trouble.

Bet you didn’t know that…
Amul was formally registered on December 14, 1946. The brand name Amul, sourced from the Sanskrit word Amoolya, means priceless. It was suggested by a quality control expert in Anand and it was chosen because it was a perfect acronym for Anand Milk Union Limited.
The Amul ads are one of the longest running ads based on a theme, now vying for the Guinness records for being the longest running ad campaign ever. Sylvester daCunha, was the managing director of the advertising agency, ASP, that created the campaign in 1967 whose charm has endured fickle public opinion, gimmickry and all else.

amul ads are intelligent and tongue in cheek and never fails to not only bring a smile to ur face but also take a moment out to appreciate the wit and the effort behind the very subtle yet very well thought of hoarding..i mean, we have hoardings galore which swamp us today…but the amul hoarding is always close to heart..i remember when during my younger years i would feel mighty proud standing beneath the huge hoarding and being able to explain the intended pun behind the ads to my father:)..ad campaigns may come and go, but the amul campaign will always be remembered very very fondly..
