Goldspot really Hits the Spot!

Malini & Siddhartha Khosla
Guess who came to visit? Siddartha Khosla from Goldspot (an L.A. based band) was in the studio today singing songs from his as yet untitled album. I suggest you give his first album “Tally of the Yes Men” a listen, my favorite song so far is about my favorite day of the week – Friday. (Siddartha revealed that it started as a joke when he was on a get fit regime and Friday was his day off and he found himself strumming “Today is Friday, it is my day, to eat what I want!” of course it turned out to be quite a catchy riff so he reworked the lyrics and voila!)

Goldspot are heavily influenced by Bollywood classics sung by the likes of Mohammad Rafi (which Sid grew up listening to thanks to mom and dad) and even did the soundtrack for motion picture “The President is Coming” (2008), featuring the songs “Paper Boats” and “Under the House”.

Didjya Know?
Goldspot (for those who remember the time) was the name of popular fizzy orange drink in India over a decade ago which got fazed out in 1993 and is in fact the inspiration for the band’s name.
Siddartha titled the album “Tally of The Yes Men” after all the “yes men” he encountered at his corporate job.
Kal Penn’s character makes a reference to Goldspot in the movie Where’s the Party Yaar? (2003).
Siddartha Khosla and Naveen Wadhera started Penn Masala, the world’s first and premier Hindi a cappella group, in 1996 at the University of Pennsylvania.
