The (really expensive) Wedding Planner

Indian Bride
So I just got this PR invite to “Boulevard – A wedding Expo for the affluent Indian” and I’m not sure if I should be impressed that they are finally (and openly) admitting that this is strictly for big money or horrified for the same reason. Sure doesn’t help that I have a little ways to go before I will be needing a wedding expo myself, but I confess it is on my list (affluent Indian or not!) But if you are (or know) an affluent Indian who wants to have a big fat crazy expensive wedding, knock yourself out :)
“Boulevard 2009 invites you for the first and the most outstanding consumer show India focusing on luxury segment of consumers and providing a platform for Indian and international brands in Asia. Boulevard 2009 will be held at World Trade Centre, Cuffe Parade, Mumbai from October 12-14, 2009. Registration closes on September 28, 2009. It is an unique platform where leading brands come together to give you a glimpse of the perfect wedding experience.”
I’m quite curious just how much the “perfect wedding experience” comes for now-a-days. Guesses anyone?
Who? Well here’s what I got off their website! “Priyanka Balar, went from pillar to post shopping her heart out for her marriage. Little did she realize that her dedication to the cause for more than a year will not bear the fruits as expected. She understood the need for a single platform where the best brands in the lifestyle world will be showcased. This would help not only the soon-be-married and their immediate families, but also open up a world of exotic brands to many who are dying to lay their hands on them. Priyanka, the ambitious soul hailing from an industrialist family, (which one I wonder) devised a unique platform that could showcase all the elite brands to a highly sophisticated audience at a minimal cost. A platform that allows brands to test waters without investing in expensive retail formats.”

hello miss malini! just want to tell u the tragic end of the wedding expo *boulevard*…. as it turns out, these chicks ran a scam and got many small exhibitors to shell out large sums of money for their stalls after promising the presence of many many reputed international names..and they were horrified to see none of the big names at the expo…and on the first day there were 15 visitors!! by the second day the exhibitors realised that they had been conned! there has been close to NO advertising and PR (not even a tenth of what was promised).. these poor exhibitors didnt have a choice but to lodge a police complaint against them.. they were then refunded 30% of the amount..i really really hope and pray that this is the last time these two girls priyanka balar and sheha ranka get away with duping small time manufacturers and shop owners by organizing such a rediculous expo… its shameful

basically these two girls called priyanka balar and sneha ranka formed a company called walkway india. priyanka met us and promised that we will get great exposure if we participate and also told us that there will be many reputed names participating. we were fooled into paying a large amount of money. she didnt give us a receipt and also gave some fake office address. she said that she is from a very rich family and that she has hired nisha jamval and prahlad kakkar to do her PR etc etc… she said that she [personally knows and has sent invites to 6000 socialites.. so we hire a stall and arrive on the day of the expo at WTC.. what do we see?? none of the names promised!! a shoddily put together venue and NO visitors… on day 2, the organisers were no where to be found and were not answering their calls.. the exhibitors panicked and lots of shouting etc happened when some mediator from the organizers side came to sort things out… then we filed a police complaint against the company WALKWAY INDIA.. we were then promised 30% refund! i am shocked that there is no central governing agency for event organizers. any one can come up, make these promises, earn 50-60 lakhs frm unsuspecting exhibitors and vanish!!!!!!! im attaching a copy of the mails that she sent me to sell her concept to me…
