Baby Doll, movin’ on up.

Niskha Lulla
Not like I’m obsessed or anything but I find Nishka Lulla’s clothes intriguing. Her ‘Innocence’ showcase at LFW SS’10 was young and spunky with an interesting range of pixie inspired evening wear. The PR note says “The outfits are mainly girly dresses made in soft nets and frill textures, embellished with self sequences.” (What?) I might have to ask my fashion forward friend Priyanka to decode that for me at some point!

Remember Nishka won the ‘Creative Excellence Award’ for the ‘Barbie all Doll’d – up!’ show at the Lakme India Fashion Week 2009 where many of India’s leading designers participated to design an outfit for Barbie for her 50th anniversary. Her winning dress was worn by Katrina Kaif. This year the PR says, “She was humbled yet honored, as she opened the show at LFW 2010 in Mumbai.”
Currently she is working on the next venture of Rajshri Productions. Also this year, Nishka would be designing the garments for the Gods and goddesses at the Iskcon temple for two auspicious occasions.
Along with all her movie and styling assignments, Nishka successfully runs the Neeta Lulla flagship store. Her zest and creativity are best spoken through her designs under the label ‘Nisshk’, which caters to the young and trendy consumer.

My pet peeve… even people in the know, using “sequence” when they want to say “sequin” plural “sequins”. One would think the designer herself would know the right usage, forget her PR people doing a grammar-/ language check before sending out their notes!

Omigawd! im all for pixie-ness and all but this is serious trash… the clothes dont fit well, the colours are repetitive,i wouldnt want to be caught dead in one of these!
PS: in a strange way these dresses remind me of what Bhagyashree wore in that song from maine pyaar kiya – mere rang mein rangne wali! ‘Sequences’ and all :)
