Even the celebrities know; This Is It.
Since I’m going to watch the movie tonight I thought I’d blog about the red carpet premiere in Los Angeles on Tuesday at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live. Tinsel Town’s finest put on all their expensive designer clothes to pay homage to the greatest pop legend of our time. “Will Smith, Jennifer Lopez, Paula Abdul, Paris Hilton, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Ashley Tisdale, Jason Von Berg, Xolisa Dyeshana, “American Idol” winner David Cook, DJ Fistaz Mixwell, [flute hotties Kwela Tebza, Jermaine and Marlon, Kabomo Vilakazi, Kenny Ortega, Khaya Dlanga, Mdoda, who?] Michel Jackson (yes the PR note says so, you think he was there?), Mickey Rooney, MJ’s brothers Jackie, Nthsongwana, rally racer Gugu Zulu and Poppy Ntshongwana, Shaka Sisulu, So You Think You Can Dance presenter Sade Gilberti, Ster-Kinekor, Suede and TKZee’s Kabelo Mabalane were all present and accounted for in support and to honor the memory of the late king of pop, Michael Jackson.”

Will Smith

Jennifer Lopez

Jennifer Love Hewitt

Paula Abdul

Jermaine Jackson, Kenny Ortega director, Tito-Jackson & Marlon Jackson MJ's Brothers
So tonight I’m going to watch with my heart in my hands and tears will be shed. I’m greedy for every last bit of footage we will ever see and I will never forget, what I finally understand to be; the day the music died.

With the exception of Will Smith and Jennifer Lopez (whos career is in the toilet anyway) this group of “celebs” are c list at best. Michael didnt exactly recieve alot of respect anymore in Hollywood. I suspect most celebs worth anything can see this “documentary” for what it is. A cash grab. Dont get me wrong, Michael Jackson Thriller record is one of the best pop albums ever, and the sales prove that. But that was a long time ago. Michael Jackson died a parody of himself. Think Ill take a pass on this one, thanks.

Hi Malini,
I saw the movie last night at cinemax, so if you are going there make sure the sounds loud coz last night the volume was quiet low and only in the interval i saw the manager to complain (everyone else was buzy in some marathi movie premiere)
Well frankly i did not like it, it had nothing in it that i have not seen till now, the backstage scenes and rehearsals is what the movie all about.
The poster says “like you’ve never seen him before,” but i have seen more of MJ all my life and this movie cud have been far better than just a musical, it was just songs and rehearsals and nothing that cud prove the tag line, the tag line is just wrong for me!
Good for someone who does not know what MJ was!

James, Sumit thanks for posting… so I saw the movie and quite liked it. I guess its hard to put together random footage and it was just so heart breaking to see these dancers who had worked like crazy to never get their dream to dance with MJ on stage for the final show… looks like he was full of love till the very end. I was lmao at his director who kept saying “Yes MJ, No MJ, three bags full MJ!” too good.

Hi,Malini,I was about to ask ‘How was the docu-movie’, but you’ve answered the question in the comments…I’m with you in feeling sorry for the dancers who must’ve had their dream of dancing with MJ on stage, shattered. Here’s hoping some director will see this movie and give at least some of them a chance.

And,yes, the pics of the Hollywood premiere were fab, even if it was just an occasion for many of the celebs to get a bit of publicity.
