Elle’s Carnival for a Cause gets the gliteratti to Think Pink!

Sunday’s Elle Carnival for a Cause at Tote was super fun! Hosted by Nonita Karla, Archana Pillai & Amrit Rai (somehow they managed to put together a fabulous indoor/outdoor carnival in a matter of hours after it thundered and stormed all night!) This by the way, is Elle’s annual fun & friendly way to spread awareness and raise money for breast cancer screening (especially for those who cannot afford it themselves.) Co-hosted by the admirable Devieka Bhojwani (a breast cancer survivor herself.) I was the emcee for the afternoon and had a great time. Between announcements I shopped, got my nails done by Scherezaad, my tarot read, my own Elle cover girl photo and a foot massage (not to mention several yummy vodka cocktails and a hotdog.) The most important lesson I learnt though was that early detection is key and in over 80% of all cases makes the cancer 100% curable. Spread the word peeps, regular check ups can save the lives of women everywhere, everyday.

Wonderful cause. Also, those ribbons on the manicure look like Playboy bunnies from that angle.

Through its Fashion Joins Hands Against Breast Cancer initiative, ELLE augments work in the area of breast health under the auspices of the Ogaan Cancer Foundation, which supports the Women’s Cancer Initiative– Tata Memorial Hospital. Fashion Joins Hands Against Breast Cancer is ELLE magazine’s initiative to work with members of the fashion fraternity who donate creations, which will be retailed through the carnivals. Participating designers include Tarun Tahiliani, Rohit Bal, Rajesh Pratap Singh, Sabyasachi, Kavita Bhartia, Anamika Khanna, Shantanu & Nikhil and Malini Ramani.
