Priyanka Chopra says, “Don’t expect Miss World to actually change the World!”

Priyanka Chopra
What, no world peace? :)
But you gotta love Priyanka Chopra for telling it like it is. She’s on the judges panel to crown Miss World 2009 in South Africa and blatantly feels it is wrong to expect the winning beauty to change the world. “Miss World is not the President of a country, and people should not expect her to be that,” Priyanka, who won the title in 2000 attended the 59th edition of the contest with beauties from 112 countries participating and said, “She’s just a girl who has been given this pedestal of power and position and she is going to do her bit to help whoever needs help, especially because the Miss World organization does so much for children who are disadvantaged, sick and underprivileged. It’s doing fundraisers, raising money for charities, so she is going to help people who need it, but she is not going to eradicate poverty or change the world.”
Umm… so now that we’ve finally established that, can I please put in a request to change the Miss India 101 training manual to strike “I want world peace” from the record? Thanks.

This reminds me of how Madhu Sapre gave a frank answer (wanting to build sport arenas) and lost the crown for not going with the run-of-the-mill “world peace” kind of spiel.

I wonder- would she have given this answer in y2k, when she was a contestant?
