I’m Gonna Bona!

Richard Bona @ Blue Frog
Have you heard this guy? I unfortunately missed his last visit to Mumbai but heard extraordinary reviews so there’s no way I’m missing him twice! Richard Bona; vocalist par excellence and bassist extraordinaire is described as a unique blend of native African idioms and Western influences setting audiences on fire across the globe. Having wowed Indian audiences in October 2008 with two sold out performances; and having recorded a part of his album, The Ten Shades of Blues at the Blue Frog studios with Shankar Mahadevan, Bona is back! He will be performing songs from the album as part of “The Ten Shades of Blues” album launch tour. See you there?

I had heard him in the U.S. in 2005 when he was part of the Toto-Bona-Lokua trio who made marvellous music. Still can’t get their song “Kwalelo” out of my head. I really wish though that the Blue Frog kept the tickets more affordable. I’d rather grab a front row seat at a classical music concert for the same price. Enjoy and let us know how it was!
