Faking It! Marathi paper photoshops their Katrina-spotting.

And while we’re on the subject of lookalikes  here’s a quirky case of Photoshop crime. Remember the news about Katrina Kaif jumping into a rickshaw to escape being mobbed last week? Well, while the story is definitely true it turns out one publication just wasn’t satisfied with not having a picture to prove it. So what did they do? They made one up! Preethi my loyal follower posted a link as a comment on my blog which led me to finding Sharell Cook a fellow-blogger who writes the clever “diary of the white Indian housewife” and her understandable angst at having been photo-shopped into Katrina Kaif for the purpose of this story by a Marathi publication. (Psst! Sharell, I’ve also seen your picture here and remember thinking, why would Katrina have stopped to pose if she was plotting a speedy escape? I just figured it was footage from some film promotion for “Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahani” or something… but little did I know!) Anyhow, I hope you get some sort of compensation or at the very least a written apology (not just an “oops”), lemme know how it goes.
P.S. Great blog btw :)

    Nice article.
I am sure, that Sakal ( The marathi news paper which ran the stroy ) is not going to apologies, unless complaint is sent to press council. They are all thick skinned . SOme of the articles on my blog were also stolen and published in news papaers- word to word.. I got the apology only after complaining to Press council. Those guys are tough..
Thanks for the referral of my blog.

Utterly shameless. Don’t they realize what a ridiculously fake ‘shop that was? I hope Kat sues too.

Off-topic, but this just proves how much like a white Katrina looks. First Ash, then Kat.
Will we Indians ever get over our white-skin obsession? cheh!

And yeah, Sakal seems pretty shameless. Glad to know Mahendra got his apology

Whew-photoshopped autorickshaw ride? Amazing, what is being done to make a paper/mag sell, sometimes. This was the first I read about it, and I couldn’t help wondering-does Katrina try to reach for the ‘long arm’ of the law for protection, on such mobby days?(Pun intended).
