Why Katrina Kaif and Priyanka Chopra are not BFFs!

Since you wanted to know how deep and dirty the Katrina Kaif v/s Priyanka Chopra rivalry runs, I figured I’d dig up all the dish and we could decide on it’s truth factor together, cool?
KK v/s PC: Round 1
Priyanka Chopra was chosen by organizers to perform at the grand finale of the Star Screen Awards but when Katrina Kaif got wind of it, she insisted that she be the finale act instead. It seems Priyanka Chopra had rehearsed and was ready to go, leading to a heated argument between the beauties, behind the scenes. Eventually Priyanka Chopra relented for which the organizers thanked her profusely.
But is it True? Possibly, but I doubt they publicly exchanged words, I’d imagine they let “their people” do the talking. I can believe that PC would be the one to bow out gracefully if it came to that though.

An industry source claims that Katrina Kaif has replaced Priyanka Chopra in Karan Johar’s Dostana sequel. Priyanka claims that her role in Dostana had reached its end and so she isn’t interested in being in the sequel.
But is it True? I dunno if the whole “Hollywood” role reality applies to Bollywood cinema. Frankly without you it wouldn’t be the same, you are after all the original desi girl so I can totally see you in the sequel PC, but the question is can Tarun Mansukhani and Karan Johar?

Priyanka Chopra has been quoted saying, “I love to do films that have me in important roles and not where I am used just as a prop. I don’t see any reason to do films where I have 4-5 songs and 15-20 scenes just because they are touted to be commercial successes. What is the point of acting in such films and giving seven back-to-back hits? That doesn’t make you grow as an actress! I may have delivered a few flops but even those had me playing important roles. I have not and will never act in films where my role is inconsequential and that my only job in those films is to look pretty.” Fair point but perhaps a tiny bit brutal coming right after Kat’s 7 back-to-back hits as arm candy, yes?
But is it True? I dunno. She seems much more tactful than that, plus this totally doesn’t sound like her English* so some journo may have taken the liberty to print their own version of her quote about wanting to do good, meaningful roles and converting them into a bimbo diss! (*and as proof I’d like to submit the following horrendously constructed/spelt phrase which followed in the same article as the above quote, “Wonder what woody Katrina’s reaction to this will be! Or will she run to good old Sallu bhai for help and ask him to verbally bash up Priyanka on her behalf!”) The defense rests.

And now we’re tallking queen bee Kareena Kapoor v/s Priyanka Chopra, because we all know pretty smart & successful girls generally make far less girlfriends in life. Then again you just can’t keep a good girl down (but I bet you they’ll try!)

So, inevitably when two beautiful women fight over the same man things are bound to get ugly. Especially so when the man in question is responsible for making them look beautiful! His name is Pompy Hans (no kidding and no that’s not him that’s Shah Rukh Khan obviously!) but apparently Pompy is a lean, fair soft-spoken Punjabi fellow but also considered to be king, of sorts amid the make-up fraternity. Of course both Bebo and PC want nothing but the best sooo let the games begin! Priyanka wanted Pompy to accompany her to Bangkok for the shoot of Siddharth Anand’s film Anjaana Anjaani with Ranbir Kapoor. (where this whole rivalry conversation came up to begin with I might add) but to her dismay she discovered that our man Pompy was already on his way to Sydney with Kareena for the shoot of Karan Johar’s Hindi remake of the Hollywood flick ‘Stepmom’
Psst! Priyanka and Kareena were once BFFs but also became frenemies when PC started dating Bebo’s ex Shahid Kapoor. OMG this is so much more Gossip Girl-y than I ever realized. (So who’s Serena and who’s Blair? Considering Shahid is a shoe-in for Nate.)

So do they pretend to get along? Sure, sometimes. I mean girls are complicated (and my ladies can vouch for me on this one) its perfectly normal for two bitter rivals to become frenemies over a random night of girl-bonding, mutual hatred for a third party or just some hormonal fluctuation. Eventually everybody’s insecure and wants to be loved by everyone else but isn’t entirely convinced about making the first move… and so it is. Nice and sordid just like you like it :)
Loading ...Great, what Happens now? Wait and watch! apparently Katrina and Priyanka are slated to put their real-life animosity to good use on the big screen! Funny how art imitates life eh? They are to be cast in the remake of the Hollywood chick-flick “Bride Wars” Isn’t it ironic? Dontchya think? xoxo Desi Girl!*

So on top of Bride Wars, the Deccan Chronicle is reporting that the two are going to do the Anurag Basu film opposite Ranbir. http://www.deccanchronicle.com/tabloids/kats-and-priyanka-have-agreed-work-together-899 Think there’s any truth to that, Malini? Would def make for an interesting love triangle.

awesome malini. i’m pretty up on the bwood gossip (a statement i would ONLY make on this blog) but this concentrated dose was brilliant! btw – re round 1 – does KK really think people would rather watch her dance than PC. delusional….
re kareena – they actually stopped being friends when KK announced on koffee with karan that, in fact, she and priyanka were not friends and that it’s not possible for two actresses to be close friends. sort of like how matt damon announced how he was dumping minnie driver on oprah. ouch.

Nicely written,Malini..somehow, I always feel that,all said and done,rivalries and friendships aside, the film fraternity is finally like one big family-let a crisis come and they’ll bond together as one, setting aside their top level egos, too.:)Isn’t it great?

Yay, I’m glad you used it! Maybe I’m star struck but Priyanka Chopra comes off really intelligent and aware so I’m all about Team PC. And is it just me or does it seem like Katrina accidentally stumbled into Bollywood and then just got really lucky.

KK seems like a perennial freshman- sweet and promising and all, but clueless and not quite with it…quite likely the victim of a lot of poor social choices and even worse relationships with men.
PC on the other hand comes across as a prom queen who’s also head cheerleader and valedictorian: secure, freakin’ gorgeous, and brilliant (if not merciless). You can’t step to that. Sorry!

Kaviani, it’s like you took the words out of my brain! I really do NOT like Katrina. The woman can’t act, can’t dance, can’t even speak the language, looks ‘chavvy’ (white, english trash basically), has no dress sense, appears less than genuine any time i’ve ever been unfortunate enough to see her on tv and has been/is dating a complete moron for a considerable period of time!!
PC on the other hand comes across as really classy, well-spoken, intelligent and is GORGEOUS to boot!

GossipGirl I agree with you. I have seen lot of Katrina’s interviews, she definitely comes across as a very nice person. PC seems nice too but she has homeground advantage. I really admire Katrina for the hard work she has put in to stay in this industry and how loyal she has stayed to SK’s family. You should watch KK’s dance on youtube especially Filmfare and IFFA one’s…she has really come a long way in both acting and dancing!!

both r pretty cool..PC speaks well and is confident..but Kat is quite humorous if you watch her interviews..its just that shes bit too cautious..anybody would be if they are not native (as in not indian if i may say so)..plus shes a cancer baby..cancerians r a too bit cautious but never unintelligent..:)..PC too is a typical cancer ..but shes intrinsically confident person coz of solid family support n dat shows..but all in all both r good (read pretty, intelligent, hardworking and of course humorous) in their own ways..dey know wen to say, wat to say and wen to just let it go..both r damn intelligent. n i admire dem for dis.calling dem just being lucky in dis profession is i would say very stupid..dey r damn good in dis profession n dats why dey are where dey r right now..riding on success..it takes intelligence to get where dey r trust me frnds.:)
