Polo Tournament at Mahalaxmi Racecourse
Polo Tournament at Mahalaxmi Racecourse

Guess what? I went to a Polo match last week at the Mahalaxmi Racecourse! The 63rd Annual Polo Tournament & Horse Show by Amateur Rider’s Club (but obviously my first time ever). I had also heard the night before from a friend who saw them hanging at Aer at the Four Seasons, that The All England Polo Club were a bunch of “really cute white guys.” So I decided to check it out! It was kinda cool actually and I discovered that the 15 second melee around each almost-goal was quite exciting actually.  The Indian team had a lot of cool army general types and those guys do NOT mess around! I learnt that each round in Polo is known as a “chukkar” (which makes sense since in Hindi that means circle) and that Polo commentators (judging by ours) are the Funniest. People. Ever.
Also thanks to my all-time favorite heart-wrenching Bollywood love-story Zubeidaa I felt like shouting “Victor, buck up, buck up Victor!” like Lillet Dubey does in the movie on more than one occasion! 🙂
Seriously if you haven’t yet seen this movie (its on YouTube in HD as well!) Do it now.To make your life easier here ya go!
