Vogue_Blogger_Badges_1-1 It may be dark and gloomy these days in Mumbai but the rich and restless aren’t about to throw fashion to the wind! Check out some local celebrity trend setters and copy their style for less.

Sapna Bhavnani: “Yellow Gum boots!”

Rahul Khanna: “I think mould is the “it” accessory of the monsoon season. The minute it starts raining, I notice it appears on almost everything I own but, most of all, it seems, on this one pair of Prada loafers I have. To me, this is a clear sign. If mould appears the most on Prada and Prada is well recognized as the very pinnacle of cutting edge style — clearly, mould must be stylish. Also being environmentally responsible, or “green”, is very in, these days. Mould is green. And biodegradable. Ergo mould is in. It’s pure scientific logic. Wear your mould with pride this monsoon.”

Shibani Kashyup

Shibani Kashyup: “For me monsoon means dressing up in a comfortable and safe outfit. Jeans, with a shirt and if required a jacket over it. The jacket that I’m wearing in the pictures is a leather jacket and it doesn’t get spoilt in the rains. As I keep on traveling, during the monsoons, it gets a little chilly and a nice cozy leather jacket solves the purpose. This clubbed with a comfortable shoes I guess makes my look complete for the wonderful monsoons!”

Nikasha: “For the Monsoon choose your colors smartly. Its nice to wear bright colors to liven up the mood especially when its cloudy outside, so play with coral, yellow, hot pink etc. Layering is also a great option during this season, carry a lightweight cover up like a jacket or a stole to protect or to keep you warm and looking good… sling your bag across the shoulder to keep your hands free for your umbrella and use nice printed scarves for your hair. Have fun ad enjoy this amazing time.”

Tina G. Bedi: “My favorite accessory for the rains; a bright pink umbrella! Its great to stand out!”

Binal Trivedi: “Animal print set made from organic waterproof material… a bag wind cheater and umbrella and clear jelly sandals.”

Kim Jagtiani: “Seems the new must have monsoon accessory are funky gumboots! (which I don’t have a picture of me wearing just yet) but my all time favourite accessory for the rains are ‘retro’ umbrellas – the rains get a kick out of the funky patterns!”

Suchitra Pillai

Suchitra Pillai

Suchitra Pillai: “My main one is a pair of rain shoes I bought in Italy from a store called Mapleaf. Cream rubber with brown flower. Using it with mostly everything I wear during day.”

Archana Vijaya: “I think gum boots are quite the fashion statement during the monsoon. They look cool with skinny jeans, protect your feet and are comfy!”

Priya Chatwal: “A trench coat”

Shehnaz Treasurywala

Shehnaz Treasurywala

Shehnaz Treasurywala: “My favorite fashion accessories for the monsoon are:
1. My sexy white and gray gumboots to navigate through the open sewers and gunk of Bombay.
2. Wide printed hair bands for scruffy, wet hair days.
3. My african danging, bold, colorful earrings that brighten up the darkest, gloomiest days.
I team these up with calf length jumpsuits, skinny jeans or little dresses. They go with everything.”

Anushka Manchanda

Anushka Manchanda: “
My monsoon style involves not getting my clothes wet… so shorts and dresses. I have gumboots but they make my feet  feel like lead, so I don’t wear them. So I don’t wear them. My monsoon accessory is a black long-sleeved then knee length open jacket/shrug to keep me warm and dry.”

Nina Manuel: “An accessory I would need in the monsoon is a car and a driver!! And some PVC prada rainboots…”

Vineeta Trivedi: “Fancy Rubber Slippers”

Swarovski Chappals

Swarovski Chappals

Pia Trivedi: “My favorite item, my flat Swarovski chaps, that I have custom-made every summer in Del. Super comfy, I have walked the streets of Manhattan, London, Istanbul, Cape Town and many more cities in them. I’ve been stopped a surprising number of times to be asked where I got them from. I get them made in three colors that pretty much match with everything… silver, dull gold and black.”

  4. Crish Says:

My faux leather jacket is an essential – rain or wind, I’m always protected against the dastardly monsoon weather (I grew up in Dubai, monsoons are a foreign concept for me!). Aaaaaand I got it for dirt cheap, who doesn’t love a good sale?!

I love teaming the jacket up with a long tee, delicious 80s acid-faded jeggings and my very old converse. I would trade my shoes for these cavalli beauties if I had the chance – http://i26.tinypic.com/4sxxn9.jpg they are flawless!

  5. Chetna Says:

My fav are the neon coloured rain footwear available these days . As they are reasonably priced, I have them in a whole lot of colors. They surely brighten up the moroseness of the grey clouds and incessant rainfall.
