I Believe.in You
I Believe.in You

Ok, so I seem to be on a roll here… tragic love stories, heart-breaking tales of those in need not the stuff you’d expect on a gossip blog… but you know what? It feels good to share. To hear your stories and maybe, just maybe spread the word about one charming little girl with eyes full of hope that will elicit a response like this, “What a heart rending write up – Brought a lump to my throat. That little  girl stole my heart too. Sigh! I wish I too could adopt her. Could you  give me the address of this foundation so I can send a donation?” Thank you Hema, every little bit helps. Which is why when I heard about this awesome little project started by a a bright young teen named Megha Harish I just had to applaud it! Check it out, I Believe.in You focuses on “building self-esteem in underprivileged kids through kid-to-kid interaction.” She even designed the logo herself! How magnificent, and really its quite simple, positive reinforcement is the key to confidence building. ‘I Believe.in You’ says exactly that.

As Megha says, “Today, there are numerous organizations/NGOs that work towards imparting education and life skills to underprivileged children and they’re doing a phenomenal job! But, while a person from less fortunate backgrounds may have the skill to be integrated into mainstream society, they might not have the self-confidence.”

There are 6 activities in the “I Believe .In You” program to achieve this goal:

1.    Public speaking builds communication skill and body language.

2.    Painting and Impromptu picture and object description.

3.    Group discussions on simple topics.

4.    Goal Setting is an important confidence building technique.

5.    Simple magic tricks for kids are phenomenal for improving self esteem.

6.    Rhythm and Movement activities that build confidence.

Nice right? How about we pay it forward and offer a little positive reinforcement by hitting “Like” on her Facebook Page? 🙂
