Anamika Khanna had a really well put together collection. She took a break from runways and has come back after 3 seasons. Quite a lot of pressure for any designer after such a long break. The collection however was as edgy with a soft Indian vibe, which left everyone with a sense of – she’s back.  The colours were under-played; there was a predominant use of white and it was paired up with deep purples, black, reds and a bright pink. She is known for her distressed look, and this season she played with embroidered cut-work that from far looked tattered, but up close was a maze of applique put together. The collection had a lot of separates from long skirts to voluminous pants, soft kurtas and blouses, but the strength of the collection were the jackets and vests. One in particular, a copped 3/4th sleeve purple jacket, is ideal for the summer months to team up with any outfit. A trend that we saw happen internationally 6 months ago of mixing prints was prevalent in the collection. Anamika used floral prints with geometrics and some tie-dye, which complimented each other in a harmonious way through the colour palette. Another key feature to the collection was, (what I like to call them) the choli shirts. It’s basically a midriff showing shirt worm with a maxi/lenhenga skirt, it’s a smart look, but not something every woman can pull off. All together it was a very strong collection with lots of great pieces, not only for the season but also as a closet staple.

Bollywood wasn’t on the ramp as they usually are, instead Sonam Kapoor sat in the front row and showed her support for the designer which she’s known to love. MissMalini caught up with her friend Marv, and did a little rehearsal for her debut on LFW TV. Check the video out for a snippet of her being filmed!
