Lisa Ray is all set for her small screen debut this month. She’s going to play host on an innovative new show, Oh My Gold! The show which premieres on TLC is going to see Lisa take us on a journey through India picking out exquisite Gold jewelry. Lisa will examine the different styles of Gold ornaments worn in different parts of the country. India has a very rich cultural heritage and our Gold fixation is a very important cultural aspect of our existence. This show is going to help us decipher why people in different states wear their Gold differently.

I have always wondered about the significance of Gold jewelry in religious rituals in India and about the Gold craze especially in South India. As a kid, I was amazed at the pictures I saw of brides in South India. They were covered from head to toe in Gold jewellery so heavy they could barely stand! But, now when I think about it, the wedding jewelry that these women wear is just a reflection of the value that their society lays on this precious metal.

So, Lisa is going to share her glitzy adventures and her tales of discovering traditional and heritage pieces of Gold with the world. From the spectacular Hyderabadi pearls to the traditional Rajasthani Jadau, Lisa loves it all and we’re about to find out why. I am really so excited about watching Lisa in the limelight (she totally belongs here!)
Move over diamonds, we say! The Golden girl’s quest is going to help us rediscover our love for Gold!

She is totally fab and carries the show on her shoulders!
We are not reading an instruction manual on jewelery! I can read that anywhere, people watch any show for fun and entertainment value, NOT for INFO!! i suggest you watch CNN and BBC for that!!
