While most designers were happy to give us sound-bytes for MissMalini’s YouTube Channel at Rohit Bal’s showing last night, designer JJ Valaya was in no mood to oblige.
When our intrepid fashion reporter, Sue Ellen Castellino approached the larger-than-life designer for an interview, he told her, “Maybe later!” with a simpering smile.
Not one to back-down easily, Sue Ellen told him, “I won’t take more than two minutes, so can we do it right away?” And again he replied “How about later?”
Now it’s not like JJ was in the midst of something important. In fact, he was simply chatting with a lady friend over a glass of wine. Hence, Sue Ellen wasn’t exactly intruding on his time or space.
We wonder why Valaya was not keen to be interviewed? Did he think we’d ask him controversial questions about his saree that was strikingly similar to Nachiket Barve’s? Frankly, we would have! And it would have been a great opportunity for him to give his side of the story – live and on air.
Maybe during the week, Mr. Valaya?
