Gaurav Bhatia: “Moët & Chandon is the legendary champagne of cinema and movie stars across the world.”

Woah, Look who Moët & Chandon brought together to celebrate heritage in China with a “Tribute to the Spirit of 1743” (the Moët & Chandon ‘Diner du Siècle’ in Shanghai). Moët Ambassador Scarlett Johansson and wait for it Abhay Deol! (Looks like somebody’s event-hopping continents!) Last I checked he was in New York launching a Mela remember? The Peninsula’s rooftop was specially crafted out of 15,000 sparkling champagne glasses, lining the terrace walls for the occasion. Sounds fancy!

The ‘Tribute to the Spirit of 1743’ celebrated Moët’s longtime and successful heritage in China. Moët & Chandon first arrived in China in 1843, exactly one century after the House’s founding in 1743.  To salute this 100-year landmark at the unforgettable dinner, Moët featured a rare 100-year old wine, Grand Vintage 1911, to an array of international VIPs including Bollywood star Abhay Deol, actress Shu Qi and Japanese actress and movie commentator Lilico. A magnificent wine that has lived on to become a legend, Grand Vintage 1911 is one of Moët & Chandon’s most distinguished champagnes.

Named for the year the House was founded, Moët’s champagne cork-shaped hot air balloon, the Spirit of 1743, also took part in the larger-than-life event. The magnificent balloon kicked off a new part of its world tour when it visited Beijing and the Great Wall of China in early September. It then proceeded to Shanghai, where it now continues its extraordinary voyage, spreading Moët magic and celebration.
