Designer Rachael Freire to The Daily Mail: “I create fashion using material that would otherwise end up on the scrap heap. What I am doing is recycling. The people criticising are clearly clueless about the amount of leather wasted on a daily basis.”

Most of us wear some form of leather on a daily basis, whether it is on our shoes, handbags, belt or mobile-phone pouch. Most of the time, we don’t bat an eyelid unless some ardent PETA activist comes and accosts us with some flashy pamphlets.

So, it comes as no surprise that a leather dress by British designer Rachael Freire has come under much flak for a collection of leathers outfits she plans to show at the ongoing Paris Fashion Week.

However, what really has a segment of the community up in arms is that the dress is made from cow and yak teats (or nipples, if you prefer!)

Ironically, the designer has called this collection Nippleocalypse and went she actually went around to a couple of British tanneries and “recycled” the waste product which ended up being the animal’s tits…. err.. teats!

Speaking to The Daily Mail, Justin Kerswell from animal rights organisation Viva said, “Isn’t the way we treat farmed animals bad enough without turning their dead bodies into a runway freakshow?”

After Lady Gaga’s celebrated “meat dress” this one is sure to become an iconic fashion statement in the history of style, as well!
