Actor Kelly Dorji is one of the nicest people I have known and also one of most artistically inclined. He started modeling in advertisements while still in St. Xavier’s College in Mumbai and then went on to become a super model on the ramp. This led to a flirtation with films and also a stint as a photographer.

The Bhutanese export of Royal lineage has also taken to painting, using different media like acrylic on canvas and charcoal on paper. Strangely though, some of the paintings have unhappy themes, like “Drowning“, “Thorns” and “More Thorns“.

Others, like “Golden Temple Devotee” above, have solitary figures with the facial features blacked-out.

On the 7th of October, Kelly will unveil his artworks at Terton Gallery (his own) in Thimpu, Bhutan. Do check them out if you’re in the that part of the world!
