Showing off her specs-appeal in Jackie Onasis style eye-wear by Tru Trussardi, actress Kangana Ranaut cut quite the dazzling figure as she inaugurated the Italian brand’s range of sunglasses and eye-wear at Olive Bar & Kitchen in Mumbai yesterday afternoon. Unlike most stars who keep the crowd waiting for hours, Kangana was pretty much on time and had the photographers go into a frenzy when she walked through the wooden gates of the restaurant.
Wearing a grey mini dress by Zara, which flared out at the hips, Kangana accessorized her look with Tru Trussardi eye-wear (of course), a limited edition Louis Vuitton bag and interesting black-and-white footwear with bow detailing by Louis Vuitton. Her look was reminiscent of Jackie Onasis meets Audrey Hepburn (the swept-up hair and big sunglasses) meets Victoria Beckham.
The event was compered by actress and model Shveta Salve. Wearing a chic blue outfit with a floral decoration in her hair, Shveta kept the crows entertained as she spoke about the brand and introduced the celebrities on stage.
Modeling the eye-wear on stage were model Sahil Shroff (who makes his acting debut in Don 2, which releases next month) and veejay / actor Rannvijay Singha. The duo sportingly tried on various different frames on stage for the benefit of the crowd and particularly loved the aviator styles which were made famous by Tom Cruise in Top Gun.
The best part of the afternoon was the leggy singer Anushka Manchanda who opened the show by singing Michael Jackson’s famous number The Way You Make Me Feel. She wore an interesting python-print jumpsuit with towering heels.
Also spotted at the event were the Khan Sisters, Gauhar and Nigaar, who had the camera crew from their reality show tailing them around and capturing their every move. Gauhar enjoyed trying on the designer frames but Nigaar had to resist because she suffers from vertigo and wearing anything on her eyes makes her feel dizzy. “I’m really trying so hard to resist trying them on,” she says with visible regret.
