MissMalini Says, “I didn’t love this collection, but on the upside, it did remind me of Christmas!”

Mumbai-based designer, Arati Vijay Gupta, sent out her models on the ramp in pristine white outfits which represented the sands of Goa’s beaches.

Having participated in Dubai Fashion Week a number of times, Arati is showing her clothes in Goa for the first time at the on-going India Resort Fashion Week.

“I have used a lot of crochet work in this line and embellished my garments with gold or silver detailing in the form of sequins and even thick borders,” says the designer.

The models had gold flowers and leaves in the hair as way of detailing, and if that was not enough, their hair was then highlighted with streaks of gold paint!

As far as her silhouettes were concerned, Arati played with lengths. At times they were short. And at times, we were shown a transparent Anarkali with churidars underneath. Then there were sequined shorts teamed with net blouses and bikini tops and dresses of varying lengths with silver blingy sashes around the waist. And finally, a jumpsuit made an appearance too with pockets on the side of the lower thigh, which glittered with sequins.

There was also a smattering of men’s wear. I particularly liked a white linen shirt with a pearly-sequined collar and button panel inset in salmon pink. Also interesting was a white linen jacket with the aforementioned pearly sequins liberally embroidered on the shoulders.
