Veteran fashion designer James Ferreira, opened the India Resort Fashion Week at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Goa with a stunning collection of dresses fashioned from batik, colour-blocking and an array of men’s wear as well.

Wearing tiny white shorts with a long unbuttoned organza overcoat on top (which showed off more cleavage than all the models on the ramp), James Ferreira was quite in his elements as he welcomed socialites like Bina Ramani for his showing.

“This line is all about beaches and batik and colour blocking,” says James! “The silhouettes are really cut in a way that it’s cooling for the body and most of all, they are clothes which are comfortable, clothes which you would love to wear on holiday,” he adds!

Describing his creations as, “One-piece dreams which flatter the body and look quite beautiful,” James’s genius is seen in his colour play where red, white and blue or purple and lime green are juxtaposed on a single garment with startling effects. “The colour palette is bright and exiting while the batiks are made in Sri Lanka,” he reveals!

But if there is one secret about this collection that most people wouldn’t know, is that all the colour-blocked dresses are made from waste material which has been left-over from other garments.

Now that’s what we call pure genius!
