Jason Wu for Target print camapign ‒ spot Milu the cat!

Someone take me Stateside on 4th February… So that I can queue up outside Target at *6am on the 5th*, to guzzle up the ah-may-zing stuff Jason Wu pulled out of the hat for the US mass retailer!!! Unmistakably Wu ‒ think Blair Waldorf! ‒ but none of it costs more than $59.99. Bloody brilliant. Don’t believe me? Click, click, click this way to decide for yourself!

I love Jason Wu, which you could tell from my gushing review of his S/S’12 collection. His elegantly precious aesthetic speaks right to me ‒ but is, tragically, beyond my means. Which is why, when Target announced in October that their next designer collaboration would be with the Wu-nderkid himself, I was bouncing like a kid on Christmas. After months of teasing and torturing, Target finally released the entire lookbook y’day ‒  and there was nary a disappointment felt.

It was a given that the capsule would be softly preppy and decidedly feminine, but what surprised me infinitely was that it all looked way more expensive than they are ($19.99 ‒ $59.99). That is, they’re subtle ‒ and do not scream “I’M WEARING JASON WU FOR TARGET”, the way Versace/Jimmy Choo/Roberto Cavalli/Karl Lagerfeld for H&M, Roland Mouret for Gap, or even Missoni for Target did. (And word has it from the influential voices in the industry, who already got to touch and feel the items, that the fabrics are actually of high-quality and will hold up for a long time.) All the more reason to get those elbow-and-knee pads, pepper sprays and helmets ready!

From pleated frocks with sailor-striped hemlines, precious Peter Pan collars, dainty silk blouses with neck ties, Riviera cotton striped A-line dress, t-shirts and trench coats with a touch of lace, to boxy bags ‒ I want each and every one of the 53 pieces!! The collection will be available in Target stores from the 5th of February up until the 6th of March. SO, if you happen to visit the US/already live there/have friends or relatives there whose arm(s) you can twist, you know what to do 😉 Trust this fast fashion/designer collaboration-snob *cough* in this collab-happy fashion world, this is much better value than anything you’d find at Forever 21, bebe, J.Crew, Gap, Old Navy et al. for the same price. Best of luck!
