Almost all the shows on day 3 had showstoppers from Sohail Khan for Etash, Shruti Seth for Kidology, Karishma Tanna for Ashii organics, Maria Goretti for Payal Singhal and Nandana Sen and Terrence Lewis for Prachee Badve and Operation Smile. There was also a bevy of children showstoppers like Nevaan Nigam who sang in Kolaveri, Pooja Bedi’s kids Aalia and Omar and Maria’s kids Zeke Zidaan and daughter Zene Zoe (what awesome names!). Essentially, it was a star studded event with even the most usually-cool-under-pressure looking a bit starry eyed. Lets take a look at the fashion from Day 3, I’m sure you have a a niece or nephew’s birthday coming up, so here is what to get them!

Ashii Organics

I’d been eying this collection ever since the first day, they were the only ones who had their stall up and running from the get go. Ashima Singh has been doing fashion week for women wear for sometime now and decided that she wanted to move into kids wear and showcase it at IKFW. Her collection was dyed using only natural and organic dyes making it perfect for those little ones who are allergic to synthetic dyes. Not only is it gently on the skin, but the whole collection had an earthy Indian feel. The highlights of the collection were the peacock and elephant motif reversible kurtas and delicate flower applique dresses. All in all a really well put together collection for children.

Prachee Badvae

Prachee Badvae is probably the youngest designer (15 years old) to have a collection seen on the runway, which is apt as this is a Kid’s fashion week after all. While Prachee still has a lot to learn and grown, her IKFW collection showed a lot of promise. Her sequined motif patiala salwars were a hit with all the mothers in the audience who will be waiting for them to hit stores. Being the new generation that believes in charity, Prachee shared her ramp with the organization, Operation Smile who help give free surgery to repair cleft lips, cleft palates and other facial deformities for children throughout the country. Etash by Archana Patel

Being a mother herself Archana Patel knows just what works for kids, this was evident in her collection for her label Etash (her son’s name). It was a predominantly traditional Indian wear collection with sherwanis with floral dupattas for boys and the prettiest net lenhengas with just the right amount of bling for girls. Although the wedding season is over, there were quite a few garments that I’m sure will have the mummies clamoring for.

Psst! How good looking are Pooja Bedi’s Kids Omar and Aalia!?.. the answer VERY!

Kidology

Malini Ramani, Gaurav Gupta, Nandita Basu’s Chota Fightercock, Siddartha Tytler, Maya Nocon and Gauri & Nainika, with a designer line up like that this show was easily the most awaited (apart from the finale obviously). The kids store Kidology, really did put up a great selection of designer wear for kids. I loved the fact that each designer’s outfit looked like a mini-me version from their adult collections, but in a way that was adorable and importantly – appropriate.
