Producer-Director Raj Kanwar Passes Away at Age 50

Producer-director Raj Kanwar passed away today in Singapore (11am, Indian time) due to post kidney transplant complications.
He was 50 years old and the younger brother of film maker K. Pappu. He assisted Shekhar Kapoor and Raj Kumar Santoshi before turning to full fledge director with Deewana in 1992 featuring Shah Rukh Khan, Divya Bharati and Rish Kapoor. The film of course turned out to be a super hit!

Later he directed blockbusters like Laadla, Jeet, Judaai, Jaan, Andaaz, Har Dil Jo Pyaar Karega, Humko Deewana Kar Gaye, Daag The Fire etc. His last film was 2010 release Sadiyaan. He is survived by his wife and two sons. His body will be flown in tomorrow late night and he will be cremeted on Sunday after 12pm.
