it was during our courtship period (jus few days before marriage).. i gifted my hubby a big valentine card along with few chocolates & red rose…since i was at my home town & hubby in delhi.. so i couriered it at his office address few days before valentines day… when the courier reached his office, my hubby was surprised… he tried to hide the card from his colleagues.. but since it was a bigone .. he was unsuccessful :)… & kept on blusing the entire day :P… aftr office hrs he called me up & thanked me but also narrated the incident…. he left the cards at his office, pretty much safe in his drawer & took the chocolates with him & gave it to my neices.. nw we’ve got tht card still with us.. it is kept safe in our cupboard… :) whenevr i think of tht incident… i can’t stop laughing… & at times we both go back to our 6 months courtship memories.. it was a golden tym we spent before marriage

Well it was in the final year of my MBA, when I actually felt the what and how it means to be in love, romance in air, happier and chirpier world moving around you etc etc… The evening which made me familiarize with such emotions was my first valentine day wherein he surprised me by confessing his love for me at the most romantic place (the corner seat of the restaurant ) where we met for the first time at my best friend’s b’day bash and couldn’t keep our eyes off each other. He not just literally knelt down but made me even read his diary in which he has beautifully penned down our meetings with minute details and the feeling which he was nurturing for me. And when I broke down and accepted ; we promised lifetime share of each meal and wine…its almost 5 yrs of our courtship and I am proud to say that sometimes romantic dine out was indeed lucky and the most cherished moment of my life :)

Every Valentine’s Day since as long as I can remember, I spend time with my best friend – shopping, chilling, eating, gossiping. It’s the best time ever. There’s just so much love around :)

It was the sweetest ever. In present times, a date with a true gentleman was my most memorable valentines day. Pulling the chair for you, offering you service 1st, opening the car door and such simple sweet gestures that truly make u feel like a woman and that too a special one :) xoxo :)

This was my first Valentine’s day after we got married,so we decided to take a half day off from office and meet at home.Anupam(my husband) is a very practical person and just does not believe in flowers and gifts and for that matter Valentines day but I’am the romantic sorts so he had to give in!So I reached home early only to find Anupam had left his mobile phone at home.2 hours gone and Anupam was to be see nowhere.Tried his office and they said he had left 3 hrs back.I started getting worried and called all his friends and relatives but nobody had heard of him.I started crying uncontrollably …and there from behind comes my hubby with flowers and gift for the first time…but I just dint care for the flowers and hugged him tight…I thought I’d lost him..and that very moment I realized that flowers or gifts don’t matter as long as he is with me.Later he told me he got late coz he just dint know what to pick up for me to make me feel special…aww! So sweet of him.”the very thought of losing your loved ones brings tears to your eye”..No??

This was last year when we had a huge fight the day b4 valentine’s day.. after the fight i refused to receive his calls and reply to his messages .. then next day my friend visited me and took me out saying that she wanted to shop and have lunch with me.. when we both left she took me to the place where my boyfriend had already planned the most beautiful and romantic dinner.. with champagne, table for 2,the whole room was decorated in pink and white theme with balloons on the floor, music. there was nobody except me and him.. my friend just left me there and asked me to go inside and she will park her car and join me inside. but she never came back. when i entered i found him there, he came close to me and held me close . kissed on my forehead and said that i mean the world to him and he would never let me go.. and the fight was purposely done so that he could give me this surprise.. That was the time I felt totally BLESSED :) This was the most beautiful valentine’s of my life.!

My daughter had heard of this day in school in her second standard and she came home and tied a red ribbon on my wrist saying ” Mumma you are my valentine.” I had not heard of this day till then. It’s also her birthday on valentine’s day. So two of my most beautiful memories are associated with this day – My daughter’s birth and my first valentine with her. I believe Valentine can be anybody close to you, not necessarily a husband or boyfriend. Your blog is very interesting.

That’s easy…our first V day (8 years ago) was also my first V day (I didnt have a BF till then and lucky me – ended up marrying my first BF!!!). He knew that I am not into romantic and soppy stuff like hearts and red baloons and roses but secretly (he knew this too) I wished to celebrate V day too – after all it was my first!!! So after work, in the parking lot when I was about to leave for home, he bent down on one knee and said “I love you” with a – believe it or not – cauli’FLOWER’!!!! There was a note in it saying “I promise to buy veggies and do the grocery shopping for you for life” LOL!!!! I knew for sure this one is a keeper and 3 years later we got married!!!

my best valentine moment was when i realsied my boyfriend actually listens to me!( u know tht is a big deal) i keep dropping in clues a month or 2 before valentines and he got it right this time- balloons, roses and macaroons. he went out of his way to get them. felt really nice!
February 6th, 2012 at 12:32 pm
I was away from my hometown and he sent me a huge heart shaped, red cushion with home-made chocolates. I was living in an apartment alone and as I came back home tired from work, without any expectation at all, I was just overwhelmed to see this huge parcel at my doorstep….
February 6th, 2012 at 12:40 pm
It was the first valentine after my marriage….I always used to think that my hubby is not as romantic as I am..but he proved me wrong when to my utmost surprise he decorated the whole room with candles, flowers and red and white ballons all over the room and to add it on a beautiful ring on the centre of the bed with a cake which he made it himself..and guess what he got done a permanent tatoo of my name on his hands..MY Gawd this was something I never imagined and thought off..something which is almost every girls dream.. I was so so so surprised and filled with emotions ..I used to imagine this in my fantasies but he made it the most memorable moment of my life time..Whenever I see that tatoo on his hands it reminds me of those magical moments which we had spend together..I am glad that I got someone in my life who loves me more than anything in this world…!!

That was our tenth year of love and we wanted to celebrate it in a grand manner. But due to unavoidable circumstances my valentine had to move out of the city on 12th of Feb and was expected to return on 16th.. All our plans went in vain and i was a bit sad….On 14th morning around 6′o clock i got a call from a local telephone booth saying i got a courier and he was waiting below our apartments. I was a bit skeptic cos no one get courier that early morning…but the courier guy convinced me saying being valentines day they are delivering early morning couriers…I went down and found a big bouquet of roses with a note ….To my surprise it was from my darling and inside the note it said “Close your eyes and think of me…..My presence will surely be felt”… Unknowingly my eyes filled with tears and they started rolling down my cheeks when i felt hand on my cheeks wiping them off…..It was him. I couldn’t believe my eyes …It was the biggest and the best surprise till that date and is the most romantic and memorable valentines day for me in my life

My most beautiful/romantic memory of Valentine’s Day would be when I was in college and I gifted my valentine a BookMark as he loves Reading and mostly because I could afford that gift in my Monthly Pocket Expense. When My valentine opened his gift burst out laughing not because he felt it was funny but because it was cutely thought gift from me. Till Today we cherish those moments.

My most beautiful memory of valentines day was when,it began as a normal day with flowers and chocolate gifts. And at noon all of sudden I was picked up in a chauffeur driven car. I was blindfolded and had no idea where we were heading to. Next I remember was getting down at a restaurant which we used to frequent quite often. So far so good. I was pleasantly surprised when the doorman greeted me with a bouquet of flower and was guided to an open air terrace. Amazingly the entire terrace was reserved for us. Then we were served with choicest delicacies. And surprise came when out of nowhere a guitarist and piano player arrived and started playing the tune of one of my favourite songs. And the icing was when my bf stood up and sand for me. For a second I thought it was all a dream. Reality struck me when he asked me to join him for a dance. The day went forward with more surprises unravelling itself. Till date I can’t forget that Valentine day of mine.

Well (I am originally from a small town in maharashtra and lived in mumbai with a pg), I was leaving for my master to the UK and had decided to break up with my boyfriend (since we didnt want to be on fence of a long distance).. I had to leave on 14th feb and me being in a complete frenzy, i didnt realize it was Valentines day! my family could not come to see me off at the airport as it was an early morning flight.. so my boyfriend was sweet enough to drop me.. he picked me up 1 hour early (it was a 5am flight).. so as soon as we reached there airport parking lot, i asked him what are we going to do for one hour .. and at that time he surprised me with a yummy cake and a present.. and a card that said “it is probably our last valentine day together and he wanted to make it memorable’! it was the most romantic moment in our 6 years relationship .. and made me realise that we could pull a long distance off!! :D :D *touchwood*

February 6th, 2012 at 6:22 pm
My FIRST Valentines!…Back in school…We were young, and had just begun seeing each other. I had those initial jitters – first relationship, first valentine’s..And I am sure he felt the same. Sometimes it became so awkward that we would avoid the very topic – so we do not have to make plans. So the day came – and we still had no plans. Not that it mattered to me, I was still to busy trying to play romantic songs in my head , dancing in rain (shower)..and imitating Bollywood scenes where the girl would sit on window panes talking to the stars.
That V-Day, we tried four multiplexes and did not find seats anywhere. I was really upset, all my friends had special plans, That’s when he suggested what remains, till this moment, my cutest date. We took the car back to his garage, played my favorite movie on his laptop on mute, and tried to say the dialogues ourselves. It was fun, and it was special. Just like I wanted it to be. That day I had my first kiss. And That day, I also discovered – Why we want to be in relationships. I realized that relationships are not so much about people as they are about these special moments – your relationship is a relationship- as long as you have good times together. I cherish those moments, and will do forever.
February 6th, 2012 at 7:21 pm
the most beautiful memory was my boyfrnd taking me out for a special dinner which he cooked and gifted me many cards in various sizes, and on every card he had a spl msg for me… Made me feel really really special…
February 6th, 2012 at 7:31 pm
The first and the only time I celebrated Valentine’s was last year. Am a movie buff and a hard core romantic. My BF gifted my a collection of all my favorite movies,a total of more than 250 movies, a personalized table clock with our pictures on it and a big bunch of roses with a card on each of them containing a note. Nobody had ever gifted me anything more thoughtful :)

it was my first valentine with my ,then fiance, now hubby..i was flying for singapore airlines and was based out of singapore..inspite of my constant demands for him to fly to singapore to be with me,he would always refuse citing army protocols(army officers need to take permission from the govt to leave the country and its a pretty tedious procedure.takes a lot of time)..i was really upset cos i wanted to spend the day with him..on 14th feb 2008,he(with a little help from my best friend and roomie)landed in singapore to surprise me..imagine the shock i got when i opened the door expecting my roomie and found my hubby there instead…that was the best day of my life..

I don’t know this is the beautiful or romantic or silliest moment of valentines day of my college life ,this happened way back when I’m in my first year of college, cupid must have missed hit me on my head rather my heart, seeing all the girls going for date,or meeting their BF’s at the college gate,I couldn’t control myself anymore as there were few girls who attended classes,so what I did,I just went to the florist opposite our college and bought a bunch of red and yellow roses bouquet with ribbon and shimmers knowing how pricey they were specially for that day but I just bought together with few cosmetics, gone with the wind original book not pirated,a big Archies card, a small teddy with ‘I LOVE YOU’ message and ordered to be packed with foil paper each for which I have to pay extra money, but guess what’ I was one on the college special receiving most envious glances from others and silly me, sitting pretty grinning from ear to ear with my loot, though very well know how I blew my whole month’s allowance;)
February 6th, 2012 at 9:43 pm
my boyfriend sent me red roses every hour throughout the day…and in the evening he took me out for a romantic dinner on the roof top restaurant overlooking the entire city…And just when we were about to leave he bent down on his knees and proposed to me….And soon we are going to be happily married :) :) :)
February 6th, 2012 at 10:01 pm
I believe that a valentine doesn’t necessarily needs to be your lover. Though I have someone in my life, I love him to the tee, I would want to share an incident that occurred 5 years ago. My grandmother was in her 80′s and she lost her husband ( my grandfather) some 20 years ago. She was only educated till the 7th standard, but she kept herself abreast of all the recent happenings through news papers & magazines. It was the 14th of feb and she read about valentine’s day and she told me how people never celebrated such days in her youth but my grand dad was quite modern & he surprised my grand mom with a home cooked fish curry and fish fry and got her ‘mogre ka gajra’. It was an ‘awwww…’ moment for me and as tears just swelled up in my eyes. I immediately decided that my grand mom is my valentine for the day, and made her feel special by attempting to make her some fish curry, which was edible! Got a chocolate cake and enjoyed listening to her stories. Unfortunately she passed away 2 years ago, but this memory is etched in my heart forever.

Malz, you really get us lot thinking dont you?
What makes any day special is when you least expect it to be special right? Thats exactly how my valentines was two years ago..
Valentine’s day is always special for me, because my birthday is the 15th Feb, just after valentine’s day.. reading the question, the only memory that came to mind was when during my 21st birthday (2 years back) They say one’s 21st birthday is very special, little did i know how true this was, until my better half flew down from Australia to be with me throughout the most special days of my life.
He had planned this surprise months before my birthday and valentines, he got the time off work, made all arrangements here , where all my family members were involved aswell, but didn’t let out a hint at all.
He flew down 2 days before Valentines to make all the final preparations.. He booked my favourite restaurant for two, had a specialised cake made for me (Chocolate and Orange flavour – Bliss!) and lots of little surprises… he surely knows what makes me happy besides him :P
There we were dining happily, with lots and lots of smiles and love in the air, then when it hit midnight, i heard ‘dil kya kare jab kissi se kisko pyaar hojaye’ played on a guitar (my fav instrument) and thats when it all happened!!!!! He proposed to me!!! Can you believe it!!!! I was ecastic!! I wasn’t expecting any of this sort!! Defiantly NOT the proposing! Me being the girly girl that i am, broke down in tears of happiness and obviously said Yes.. Another surprise i had there was that once when we were out shopping, we went to jewellery store and was randomly just checking some jewellery out, and i saw my perfect ring which i fell in love with and told him jokingly that this is the ring i want when you propose, and thats exactly what it is! It was that very ring…. <3
All this may sound like a fairy tale, but believe me, for me it surely was… Our relationship has been going from strengths to strengths throughout all these years, and we are now planning to tie the knot sometime next year!!! Im so excitied i’ve found my knight in shining armour.
I want to say a big thankyou to you, for bringing these memories back today, as i write to you. Hope you have a fab valentines too, with your Rizwan Charming ;) xoxo

It was during our Court-ship period that I experienced the magic of love and meaning of Valentine Day came into existence in my life. I and my hubby (fiancee then) had a real big fight ahead of our first V’Day (on the topic of his not coming to meet me we stayed in two different cities). I was damn angry and in no mood to go to office either. However just to take my mind off the V’day celebrations I went to work. Seeing me at work on my first V’Day of courtship all my colleagues seemed intrigued which made me more upset.
As soon as I put on my Computer I saw a desktop background with my and my fiancee’s pic on it and letters scribbled “COME DOWN I AM WAITING”. I peeked down from my office window which overlooked the main road and saw his Patent car “Maruti 800″ parked below my office. The rest is a History!!! I received a warm hug along with 12 gifts each gift symbolizing each year of our courtship… along with a red rose and box of Chocolates.. That was my first and best Valentine Ever..
I wish reading this comment reminds him to do something special for his wife this Valentine LOL!!!!

My Bf is a totally “feel the emotions without words” guy. So last valentines being our first one, we just went roaming around and as the day progressed i want enjoying it as there was nothing to make me feel special. Then he finally took me to his first house( the house where he grew up) and proposed….that touched me a lot. We walked on the street he drove his tricycle. Went to his school, the little chat place he used to save money for and finally his current home where he had arranged (not cooked …ha ha)for a candle light dinner and then danced to slow music. That was last year…my first perfect valentines day ….I hope this one would be much more…

Ahh!
Valentine’s day has been special for me, for just this one year, 2009. I have never dated anyone. But there was this guy who really love me. But I have a phobia for relationships. He was a very special person in my life.
I still remember the twinkle in his eyes when I told him that I was taking him out on the 14th of Feb. I did not disclose the location though, so he thought I was taking him to play snooker or some boring library, like I always did! :)
So, on the V-day, I took him to a newly opened Pub. I had an agent friend who booked it for me at a decent rate. This pub had recently opened and wasn’t crowded at all. It was located at the top floor of a mall. So when I took him to the mall, he looked so disappointed. I can never forget the transition in his expressions as I took him to the top floor. I closed his eyes and led him into the Pub. My friend, on my request had arranged music and drinks. And had decorated the place with heart-shaped balloons, crimson flowers and musk fragrance. Everything spelled Romance.
He opened his eyes and was flabbergasted to see the surprise. And he was so overwhelmed that he ran into me, hugged me tight and held me in air and twirled around in glee. Then he blushed as he realised, what he had done! :)
Then we had a couple of tequila shots and then I asked him on to the dance floor where I requested the DJ to play “Everything I do” by Bryan Adams. And that was not just the most beautiful Valentine’s Day but also the most romantic moment of my life.
I know I did not propose my love to him, I know I was afraid.
But I do regret not telling him how much I love him.
Happy Valentine’s Day to you Malu, and all my friends! Take this opportunity to confess your love to that special person. You may never get a better tomorrow!! <3

My favourite valentines day was when I was a manager in a pvt company. When I arrived at work there was a single red rose on my desk. I spent all day trying to find out who it was from but with no success. It was only as I was going home that the boys in my department admitted it was from all of them as they loved having me as their boss. It made my day but I left 2 months later as I’m not one for multiple relationships lol xx

I live in Bombay and my bf’s in Delhi. We met at our work induction. For both of us it was love at first sight but undeclared. So on after induction on Valentines Day he flew to bombay and told me tht somethings in life are worth taking a chance on and this is one of those things. He told me how he fell in love when he first saw me. When he flew to Bombay he didnt know that I was also so in love with him. This is nicest and sweetest thing anyone has ever done for me.

My wife (fiance then) had called my workplace in advance and asked for leave on Feb 14th on my behalf from my manager. Of course, the two were in full synch. Feb 13th and boss tells me that the next day would be a compensatory off and we would go to a resort to party a recent project success and then bowling. Little did I know that on Feb 14th morning at 10, I was the only one from my team at the resort with my fiance greeting me with a a warm smile and red roses at the spa there. Took me some time to realize what had happened before that ! This will surely remain green in my memory till eternity !

My hubby hates the cooking area and I bet he doesn’t even know the spelling of K-I-T-C-H-E-N. So, u can imagine how shell shocked I was on one Feb 14th morning when I wake up only to find a bed tray with a very attractive breakfast spread like heart shaped dosas and the aloo ki sabji laid in a similar shape next to the dosas. Kindly mis-shaped but it was so touching and surprising, I had to pinch myself for assurance that this man was my actual hubby for so many years. oh and the heart shaped toothpaste spread on my toothbrush took the cake ! Twas too much !

Well, my most amazing Valentines day…makes me really nostalgic :) so here it is,…
about 7yrs back I started dating my boyfriend and had completed 1yr and 3months, so I decided to gift him something unusual.so i had cut my ganjee(a sleeveless t-shirt) along the stitch so that when u open, it opens like a book or a page…and then i started writing on the other side (right side) starting month wise, like ‘nov2005..’n so on till ‘feb 2006′ and mentioned all the memorable moments that took place in the all the months….n the best part was, that though i had to write down for each n every month i.e. for 1 yr 3 months;to be precise, but then i did have material to write
n on the other side of the ganjee (the left side) i had made a collage of all our pics together….and the best part was that i had put a kiss on it,i.e. had put on lipcolor and embossed it on the ganjee ;)n had put the perfume all over the ganjee that i used to use the most at that point of time :)
p.s. he loved my fragrance(just to give my personal touch) and had tied it with a ribbon….
p.s.-he still has kept it with him, though v both have parted ways :)
@miss malini-many congratulations on ur wedding and may god bless u n nowshad always n have a wonderful married life :) <3

My girl has been real good in springing special things at very unexpected times. The first one was way back in high school when she customized a valentine’s day music CD for me with all our favorite numbers from good old 80s..Of course it was not a big deal for a gift but it was definitely a very special gesture and we play it very religiously every Feb 14.

Somehow my best valentine is not with a guy but the time when the single girls from my gang went to watch “Music and Lyrics” and the theater was almost empty and it felt like a special screening just for us. We sang, danced and laughed so much during the movie-maybe a gift from God for being single and happy..hahaha :):)

My fiance` and I share the hobby of scuba diving together. So thats exactly how he proposed to me on Valentines Day. We were 30 feet down in the crystal blue ocean, looking at the tropical reefs, as we got to an open area were there was only white sand we dropped out to the bottom, he wrote on a slate that there was something hes ben wanting to ask me, and that he couldnt find a better way of doing it. He pulled the ring out while under water. I was shocked! The best and most unforgettable dive of my life! :)

I surely didn’t have a best valentine gift, because my better half didn’t get me anything on our first valentine’s but he did take me for a movie & we had our first kiss that was the best memory.

The most romantic memory of valentines day was on my 1st date with my hubby!
it was an official meeting arranged by our parents and at the end he asked me “whether are we going to see each other again?” if i told yes it meant for a 2nd date so i took a non judgmental way of answering it. so in return he said that “i don’t know whether are we going to see each other again but i want you to take care of yourself coz i like you”.
i think that’s the most romantic thing some1 has ever told me on valentines day.

…it was a romantic run away to Barcelona….we ate milk chocolate magnum bars and drunk cheap champagne…bursted into charming fits of laughter whenever we got embarrassed about butchering the Catalan language….lol ;)…i wore denim cutoffs, Dr. Pepper chapstick, and very little else….went dancing at 3 a.m….tanned our shoulders….braid feathers into hair….perpetually woke up with sand caught in the thin cotton sheets of our tiny bed…it sure was a dream come true!!

It was our first valentine after we started to go around but before our placements. So it had to be on a tight budget but surely we had to enjoy enjoy our first Valentine’s day.
He brought me a card and a perfect red rose. We went to one of my favourite italian restaurants (it was expensive for our pockets then).
We scanned the menu, looking mostly at the right-side and ordered only one dish and soft drinks to ensure we dont exceed the bill than the money in our pockets. I still remember, we both said we are not really hungry and one dish should be sufficient for both of us.
We talked about our life and future plans over drinks and the dish ;-)
We were focused and set clear milestones for ourselves to accomplish in life both personally and professionally. And today having achieved the set milestones we both are happily married for the past five years.
This restaurant is so special to us now that we visit it almost every month and sit at the same table and ensure that we definitely order that dish we had ordered the first time. Also, all special accomplishments are also celebrated here only.

When he took my hand in his and gave it a little comforting squeeze saying “We’re in this together baby…Don’t worry I’ll always be there”…it was his own funny way of sealing the deal with me :)

Rashmi Agarwal’s entry is copied from the internet. She copied it from http://thoughtcatalog.com/2011/5-fantasy-exit-strategies/
When so many people are entering the contest, some are bound to act unfair.. sad people can go to such unfair levels for winning a prize. These people are certainly not ‘winners’ in the real sense.
