Well, just when I blogged about celebrities using Twitter to have cute conversations, Ayesha Takia and Sidharth Mallya are doing the absolute opposite by having a bit of a Twitter showdown! Watch out, people – this girl’s angry.

@ayeshatakia

So apparently Ayesha’s sister’s boarding pass was torn by a Kingfisher Airlines employee (though why, she doesn’t mention), and Ayesha was absolutely livid upon hearing this – and has therefore taken to Twitter to rant it out. And as though she feels her tweets haven’t gotten rid of her rage, she’s even retweeted over 40 of the responses she’s received from followers.

@sidharthamallya

Meanwhile, Sidharth claims to not know who Ayesha Takia is, and states that there are always two sides to a story.

@ayeshatakia

While I know I’d be angry if this happened to me, I’ve got to agree with Sidharth Mallya on one point – there are always two sides to a story, and clearly, Ayesha Takia is giving us only one. We don’t know what her sister did to initiate this reaction – and the only way to really know would have been to be there, which… neither of them were! Either way, some poor PR person somewhere is going to go into overdrive trying to make this whole situation better!

    Ms Malini u must be the first person to write a story on this!!

  2. Tanu Says:

    @Rashmi – thank you for finally giving a more objective approach to this matter! Everyone on twitter is going ballistic over this! As much as a sympathize with Ayesha’s sister, I think this time she took it a bit too far.

    Oh and ps. She did mention the staff member’s name – Vinay Podwal

    I think Sid Mallya is being arrogant. I mean WHO MALLYA HEIR OF SOME SORTS.

  4. Sue Says:

    I think Sid Mallya could be a little more polite and say something like KFA would look into the matter, instead of being so condescending.

  5. bigmouth Says:

    Wow! if Sid thinks being an arrogant twat is going to take him further in his father’s line of work i.e. Hospitality business then he should think again!!! Richard Branson had a client unhappy with Virgin airlines, what did Sir Branson do instead of being arrogant, he spoke with the client and said he would look into the matter and later offered the client a free ticket. This is the way of dealing into something, tell the client you will look into it and bite your tongue and apologise, not sat on your father’s high horse saying who the hell is someone? YOU DON’T HAVE TO BE ANYONE TO HAVE AN OPINION.
    In the hospitality business THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT.
    Kingfisher needs to handle their clients appropriately as the staff should have the right training on how to deal with situations of this sort-a customer can throw a fit but its upto the staff to calm them down in a polite way….. unless the customer is being abusive in which cases you simply call airport security and have the matter sorted.
    Shame they don’t teach good manners in all the school, universities Sid Mallya attended.

  6. NR Says:

    Damn. I can understand Sid’s defensiveness, especially because Ayesha sounds like a total nutjob, but what a poor way to handle customer service. Not worth the escalation, although the comedic value is priceless. I wonder what Daddy Mallya has to think about this? Maybe Ayesha should “write to him directly” as he implores everyone to do in his ridiculous inflight video….

    Sumthin like dis happened wid my frnd too…she had her boarding pass with her(kingfisher airlines) n went to da toilet…dey started da boarding at around 5.55 pm n finished it at 6o clock n my frnd came out n tried boarding at 6.02pm n da staff refused her to board even after her having da boarding pass n she jst went for a natures call n jst 2mins late n den also dey didn’t allow her to take da flight…she begged ,requested,n wat not but that guy didn’t let her in…n in that sector it’s da only flight in da whole day…

  8. Anchal Says:

    Dis happened at Mumbai airport n it was unbelievable

  9. Rashmi Daryanani Says:

    Tanu – Thanks! Definitely Sid Mallya should have handled it better, but Ayesha should’ve too – that was a looot of rage that could have been toned down.

    Sue, bigmouth – I agree he didn’t handle the situation too well. Should have been more dignified and just said they’d look into the matter.

    NR – Comedic value is priceless, for sure. And Daddy Mallya responded saying they’ll look into the matter :)

    Anchal – Eek… things like that are always horrid, but I’ve learned that with the aviation industry, there are a lot of things that aren’t all that controllable. Believe me, I’ve had a ton of issues on a ton of different airlines that are borderline ridiculous, but at the end of the day you can’t even really blame the staff… because there’s so much more beyond their control that even they’re left a bit helpless at times!
