Beat the heat

I’m sitting in my room right now, fan on full speed, and still sweating it out, which meansit’s time to bring out those cottons, linens and airy, loose fit clothing. I’m not going to bore you, on what’s in trend and what’s on the runways. Rather, I’m just going to suggest some fun summer items to buy for the next coming months.

Feeling Raw

Gem stones that are un-cut, un-finished or beaten gold/silver that are full of character – this is the type of jewellery that will surely make a simple cotton dress stand out. I’m going to get my hands on one of those chunky cocktail rings; it’s time to hit Bandra, Hill road on a jewellery mission!

Cut It Up

The cut out dress is the way to go; it’s a slight flash of skin and also some ventilation! If you can’t find one in a store, go to your local tailor and have them stitch many for you, because you’ll love them!

Bucket?

Bucket bags – they are saggy, slouchy, so very trendy and downtown cool, plus they can hold all your little nick knacks, paddy wack give a dog a bone (remember that rhyme?). Moving on, these are essential for daytime. Try looking in your mom’s closet, they were a hit back in the day.

Not Potato Wedges

How could you have not known this would be on here? It’s a summer staple, timeless and classic. Don’t go all dainty and pretty with your wedge though, because you know you’re going to be frolicking around in them. Get something with a supporting ankle strap, and more importantly, something that’s durable. In other words – wedge sandals.

Midi Me

This awkward length (anywhere from below knee to above ankle) has come into it’s own for summer – it’s a saving grace. Not too short, that you can’t ride a rickshaw, and not too long, that you’re cleaning our streets. Loose midi length skirts and dresses, worn with knotted at the waist shirts, are a summer statement you have to make.
