Joining the ranks of Amy Jackson, Rosa Catalano, Giselii Monteiro and Preeti Desai is another videshi beauty by the name of Evelyn Lakshmi Sharma.

The model turned actor has signed three movies, Manish Tiwary’s Issaq with Prateik, Prateek Chakravorty’s debut film From Sydney With Love and an interesting cameo in Ayan Mukerji’s Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani with Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone. And I’m told there’s a forth project she’s signed on as the lead for which is super hush hush as well!

I managed to catch her online while she’s up in the mountains shooting for her third film. She say’s, “It’s a fantastic experience as I had never been to the Himalayas before :)”

MM:How did you get your Bollywood break?
ES: I worked hard, went to auditions and made the right decisions.

MM: What’s it like being in a Bollywood film?
ES: Every film is a different experience. It’s really tough work but if you love what you’re doing the fun always outweighs the struggles! I love acting, dancing, learning, testing my limits and making new experiences.

MM: What’s the hardest part?
ES: I guess the long working hours and keeping up your energy. But you have that in modeling too, so I’m used to it already.

MM: Who is your dream co-star?
ES: Dream co-star? I think the ones I’m working with like Prateik and Ranbir are pretty dreamy already 😉

MM: Which Bollywood actress do you admire most?
ES: I admire them all for different reasons. Working with Kalki and Deepika is just amazing! I can learn so much from them. I admire Kalki’s easy and natural way of acting, or Deepika’s perfection and constant focus.

MM: Your favorite Bollywood film?
ES: It’s really tough to choose a favorite if there are so many! Recently I thought Agneepath and Kahaani were outstanding.

MM: How’s your Hindi? Say something in Hindi? 🙂
ES: Meri Hindi super hai 🙂 I’m still a bit shaky conversing freely but I speak fluent dialog.

MM: Your all time favorite Bollywood song?
ES: Again. Really hard to choose a favorite when there are so many good ones. Right now Discochali is on repeat on my iPod!

MM: One movie you’d have loved to have acted in? (Bollywood or Hollywood.)
ES: Marie Antoinette (with Kirsten Dunst). Wearing all these beautiful dresses, eating delicious cupcakes and cuddling cute little puppies in a French castle – couldn’t think of a better role haha. I love comedy and girly movies, but besides the fun roles I would like to get into more serious and emotional roles at some point, like Rani in Black. Or a kick-ass action role like in Kill Bill.

MM: Something nobody knows about you…
ES: I was a cheerleader in high school. Please don’t tell anyone hahaha!

MM: What is your connection to India and Bollywood?
ES: Well, being half Indian is my connection to India. My love for Bollywood had only started when I moved to Mumbai though. Bollywood is an experience, not just movies. I’m thrilled to be a part of it now!
