Easter is coming up, and while most of us can’t wait to start drinking, the rest of us want our Easter pressies. I love giving my girlfriends gifts, and for Easter I’m contemplating on some DIY bank account friendly ideas. I stumbled upon these a few weeks ago, ANYONE can do them! So get your creative juices going and try them out, I know I will.

The Hand Painted Note Book

What you need:
Water colours
Markers
Stencils
NoteBooks

I saw these on a website called Etsy, and thought it was such a great gift for those who keep a diary or are obsessed with a day planner. The best part is, you can draw up just about anything and even if it’s messy, it still looks like you did it on ‘artsy’ purpose. I suggest getting eco-friendly note books that have plain paper back covers. Practice on a different piece of paper what you’re going to draw, and then get to it. Stencils are a great way to add text and can be found at any stationary shop. If you’re good with water colours then use that medium but markers, pencils, colour pencils are all great too. So let your imagination run wild with these! Don’t forget to put a ‘hand painted by (your name)’ at the back as a logo and as neat little professional touch.

Funky Sunglasses!

What you need:
Kundans/stick on crystals
Old Earrings or Chains
Pair of Sunglasses
Tweezers
Glue or Glue gun
Patience
Wire Cutters

I think this is the coolest gift to give a girl who loves to experiment and have fun with her accessories. Get a pair of sunglasses off Colaba Causeway or any shopping street and just go with your gut. Cheap Jack or Something Special in Bandra is a great source for all the items you need for this task, in other cities your local stationary or crafts store (haberdashery) is the place to go. I’m very messy so I would prefer stick on kundans, to simply stick onto the frames.

Tip: Use tweezers to place them well. Yet if you’re really creative, you can glue gun old chains and even old earrings. Use the wire cutters to get rid of the spike leaving you with just the earring. Glue gun that to the side of your sunnies for an ultra vintage look.

Psst! Just occurred to me, you could also do this on shot glasses! What a great gift for someone who gave up alcohol for lent (moi)… *ahem ahem* *hint HINT* MissMalini.com team #justsaying
