Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham in two minutes!

Guess who’s back with another Two Minute Movie? And this time I took on the challenge of condensing a three-hour long, full of drama, Karan Johar movie into just a few comic strips that you can browse through in two minutes! So if you’re in the mood for revisiting the wonderful Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham but don’t have three hours to spare, this is for you. And if you haven‘t watched Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham yet… well, I don’t think we can be friends.

So Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham is a film about a family, or in short:

Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham

First up, we meet Rohan, the younger brother of the Raichand household. Rohan just wrapped up his studies abroad, and returns to India – but before going home, takes a pitstop to see his grandmothers.

Our flashback takes us to the Raichand household, which is huge and includes a helipad (it’s a Karan Johar film after all). Haters to the left; I love this brand of cinema.

Not all goes as planned for Rahul – he’s supposed to marry a girl of his father’s choosing (who, incidentally, is Naina), but he falls in love with Anjali instead. Of course, since it’s Bollywood, she’s the absolute worst candidate ever, a poor girl from a nearby town who his father finds too “ordinary.”

Yash refuses to accept Anjali, and tells Rahul that he has finally proven he’s not his son. Adopted Rahul considers this a low blow, and tearfully leaves the house. Here, we move out of flashback mode and onto the second half of the movie – at which point you revel in my awesomeness because I just managed to condense half a Karan Johar flick into 4 comic strips.

After all that dancing, Rohan manages to track down Rahul’s address…

Since Rohan has grown up a lot and is no longer his chubby young self, Rahul doesn’t realize his new guest is his brother. But just as Rohan gets on the right track, his secret is revealed. When Rohan is unable to tie his shoelaces, Dhaijaan recognizes him as the boy she helped raise. And when Rahul overhears Krish reciting a dialogue he had told Rohan years ago, he realizes that Rohan is actually his brother.

So all Rohan’s hard work goes to waste, because father and son still won’t tolerate being around each other. That’s when Rohan ends up in a fight with his father, and things start to turn around.

After a few choice words from Rohan and Nandini, Yash begins to see the error in his ways. And when Rahul is coerced into returning home (for what is supposed to be the last time), Yash sees him and his resolve crumbles entirely. So, the family reunites and ten years of drama is finally put to rest in ten minutes.
