When the people working on a movie are passionate about cinema, the end result’s gotta be good. I’ve always been a fan of Rajat Kapoor as an actor and a director and his latest flick, Fatso is just another shining example of his love for his art.

I was at Crossword for a superbly interactive, fun session with the cast and crew of the movie which hit theatres on the 4th of May. The idea of the whole thing was to discuss the making of the movie with fans and also to give them a glimpse of unseen footage from the sets.

I love that Rajat is so flexible when it comes to the script and he likes the idea of the dialogues and the story evolving as they shoot. That to me is a very innovative concept and though Purab Kohli (looking cute with his long hair) complained that it’s generally tough to keep up when Rajat adds dialogues on set but the masterpiece they get in the end makes it worth all the effort.

I think it’s totally awesome that the movie talks about love without being all corny and loud. Props to Meenal Agarwal and Rafey Mehmood (they were at the event too) who ensured that the look of the movie is retro and yet very fresh and youthful.

Rajat shares a great equation with all his actors especially Ranvir Shorey (he was in Rajat’s directorial debut Mithya as well) and Gul Panag and the comfort on sets translates into effortless performances.

I had a fun chat with Purab Kohli about his love for being in front of the camera and how he’s a total Mumma’s boy.

Apart from the interesting conversations with Rajat and Purab, I even won myself a CD of the soundtrack just because I asked a question (yay!).After watching those funny little bits from the making (it’s a riot) and talking to these guys, I can’t wait to watch Fatso again and I totally think that you should too.
