Friends, remember me gushing about Victoria Beckham’s Spring/Summer 2012 collection? Well, I tried on a handful of pieces from it ‒ I HAD TO! ‒ a few weeks back at Selfridges, and… I… DIED. Not only did they fit like a glove, but they instantly transformed me into the sparkliest version of myself! ONLY Azzedine Alaïa’s stuff has that effect on me, no other designer togs ‒ and that’s saying something. It was some experience, to put it simply. So when I heard that a boutique in India is stocking Vicky B’s S/S’12 line, I had to share it with you all 🙂
It’s at Kitsch, a multi-label boutique! Heard of it? No… ? There’s one in Kala Ghoda of Mumbai and another at the Emporio Mall in Delhi. They stock both womenswear and menswear, and to be honest, I was quite impressed by the line-up they have pulled off so far. There are high-end designers like Yves Saint Laurent, Lanvin, Alberta Ferretti, Alexander McQueen, Victoria Beckham (!!!); mid-range labels like Stella McCartney, Diane von Fürstenberg, Céline, Hervé Léger; and low-end/affordable ones like Halston Heritage (the secondary line of Halston), McQ by Alexander McQueen, Marc by Marc Jacobs, Catherine Malandrino and Alice + Olivia. But what sounded like music to my ears is that, the prices, here, are, apparently, 5-10% lower, than in Europe, Middle East and East Asia… Another reason for me to hurry up on that Mumbai trip!!! Of course there’s the ever brilliant net-a-porter, which charges competitively and ships to anywhere in the world, but hey, you are not going to be splurging on designer clobber every day, so it’s nice to be able to touch and feel the pieces before you part with your hard-earned cash.

And if you happen to be a materialistic cow, LIKE I AM, you just might find a new, worthy reason to work that extra bit harder and save up. Indeed I’m going to take the plunge soon and purchase my first VB piece, but, at the moment, can’t seem to decide between these three…
