Onwards to Day 4 of Cannes Film Festival… Between the world premieres of Lawless and Dracula 3D and the GucciVanity Fair Dinner Party (Sonam Kapoor was there!) to celebrate the world restoration premiere of Once Upon a Time in America, we have plenty of fashion to talk about ‒ come, check it out!

Li Bingbing was simply oozing elegance in her custom Gucci pale blush kimono-sleeved gown with black beaded sash belt. She rounded off her look with some Gucci accessories: 18K pink gold horsebit earrings with onyx, black corundum and black diamonds, 18kt pink gold horsebit cocktail ring with black corundum and black diamonds, black satin evening clutch and black high heeled evening shoes. Classy all around ‒ my fave look of the day!

Not far off from Li in the best-dressed stakes was Jessica Chastain in a gathered v-neck blush chiffon evening gown by Gucci Première, at the premiere of her film Lawless. The rectangular metallic bronze, nude and transparent palettes embroidered on to the bodice and full skirt in a degrade effect made her twinkle at the red carpet.

She left her hair down to complement the flowy nature and romantic hue of the gown. A Chopard white diamond cluster completed her look.

Naomi Watts in head-to-toe Gucci at the Gucci-Vanity Fair bash was sparkling too! It was a custom Gucci sleeveless cocktail dress for her. The pale grey shimmering paillette top… the iridescent Swarovski crystal embroidered low waisted belt… the pale grey to lilac degrade ostrich feather skirt… all harked back to the 1920s, don’t you think so? Matching champagne satin evening clutch (I WANT!!) and satin peep toe high-heeled evening sandals nicely complemented the dress, but those diamond Chopard jewels??? Aaaarrrgghh… totally unnecessary in this case, I mean, the dress is sparkly enough! I guess Naomi can’t resist from throwing in some gratuitous Chopard jewels as this is the second night in a row!! And NAOOOOMI, brush your hair before you leave the house!!!

Oh, I think you should all have a look at Asia Argento’s dress for the premiere of Dracula 3D! Maybe, just maybe, in some life, the Italian actress was swallowed, in one piece, by a crocodile,  and then by stroke of fate, was reincarnated ‒ but with her predator’s skin. It is actually from Givenchy’s Spring 2012 Couture collection. Embroidering the nude tulle dress with matt brown crocodile scales and studs sure took some painstaking workmanship (it’s couture after all), but this is one revolting dress.

Okay, I’m simply floored by the colour of Mia Wasikowska’s J. Mendel‘s A/W’12 gown she wore to the premiere of her film Lawless. How lush is that rich plum colour? The Australian actress kept the accessories minimal with the textured v-neck gown with a gathered centre and draped sleeves ‒ it was just some Chopard diamond earrings (HA!), y’see?

Bérénice Bejo’s custom Prada gown to the red carpet of Lawless, what do think? It was a mash-up of two looks from S/S’12 line, and I… actually… like it! Interesting bodice and lovely colour combo; not the usual stuff you see at the red carpets. The only gripe I have with the gown is that the bodice sits a little low.

I’m in love with the Carven A/W’12 skirt ‒ a high-waisted velvet skirt with a Middle Ages-inspired print ‒ that Leïla Bekhti wore to the photocall of ‘Jury Un Certain Regard’ earlier in the day. Such a fresh, quirky yet pretty look from the French actress, no?

Salma Hayek-Pinault in custom Gucci at the Gucci-Vanity Fair dinner party

Salma Hayek-Pinault again wore a wrong dress for her body type to the Gucci-Vanity Fair party. Why, Salma, WHY? It was a custom Gucci (naturally!) midnight blue strapless cocktail dress fully embroidered with paillettes; there was a three-dimensional floral embroidered detail at the neckline and around the waist too, but all of it seemed lost against the pailette backdrop. This dress was stunning, but for Salma, Frida Giannini could’ve provided straps to better support the bust area. Her Bristols look like they’re going to spill out any moment! She finished off her look with blue peep-toes, a matching clutch ‒ and a superfluous statement necklace with blue stone.

Natasha Poly in custom Gucci at the Gucci-Vanity Fair dinner party

Natasha Poly looked smoking in her custom Gucci number! It was a pale pink all over beaded halter neck gown featuring an open back and plunging neckline. Rounding of her flawless look was a Gucci pale gold satin box clutch and champagne suede high heeled evening sandals.

Gemma Arterton in Gucci A/W'12 at the Gucci-Vanity Fair dinner party

Gemma Arterton’s brandy iris printed silk georgette long sleeved shirt with matching brandy iris printed silk georgette trousers from Gucci’s A/W’12 was pure horrible! 18kt yellow gold Diamantissima necklace and 18kt yellow gold horsebit bracelet with a black crocodile evening clutch with enamel tiger head detail ‒ all by Gucci ‒ made up the rest of her ensemble.

Marta Gastini in Marni S/S'12 at the photocall for Dracula 3D

And oh, I got super excited on spotting one of my faves from Marni‘s S/S’12 line in Day 4 😀 Marta Gastini wore the lemon dress with a plunging neckline to the Dracula 3D photocall during the day. I love the 1950s bell-shaped skirt, and the double band, which goes on to enhance the silhouette. The Italian actress paired the dress with a Marni statement necklace, and I’d have loved it if she left it at that ‘cos the wood-sculptured U-shaped heels and the tan oversize fold-over clutch simply ruins the easygoing, summery, effortless vibe of the dress.

PS. Sonam wore a black silk chiffon long sleeved cocktail dress with floral velvet detail across the bust and black velvet sash to the Gucci-Vanity Fair party. The dress was a customized version of a Gucci’s A/W’12 number. Black high heeled gold studded evening shoes and blue and black python box clutch, both by Gucci, completed her look. Watch this space for a full-length pic of the gown! Most possibly we’ll get the pics on the 26th 🙂
