Poster of 2012 French film Amour
Amour received rave reviews…

Day 5 of Cannes had the world premiere of the French film Amour as the only big red carpet event ‒ but some of the outfits we saw on it were truly breathtaking!

The best dressed of the day for me was bit of a close call, but in the end I had to go for Diane Kruger over Cheryl Cole. Just look at her gleaming Vivienne Westwood gown! (It’s a customized version of this.) The rose gold sequined strapless gown with an internal boned corset and draped and ruched detailing on the skirt was astonishing. Gold Jimmy Choo clutch and gold drop earrings completed her look. Her make-up, too, was purr-fect! Like a goddess she looked… !

L’Oréal Paris girl Cheryl Cole made quite the jaw-dropping entry to the red carpet in her Stéphane Rolland Spring 2012 Couture gown. Oh, you gotta check out the genius French couturier’s Spring 2012 collection, unbelievably gorgeous it is (Paz Vega wore one from it on Day 3) ‒ and the number Chezza chose was actually one of my faves from it. Seeing the gown on the red carpet, however, was bit of an anticlimax as its most wondrous feature, the red ostrich-feathered dramatic train, seemed to be blending in with the flooring. A VBH red python rectangular compact clutch and David Morris jewels nicely finished off this look. Chezza and her mane looked totes amazeballs nevertheless!

Model Erin Wasson’s silk-chiffon Antonio Berardi S/S’12 gown with glossed ruby leather petal embellishments seems rather low-key after the high drama of Diane and Cheryl’s gowns, no? It’s pretty still, and its mullet hemline is bang on trend. Aquazzura sandals and Chopard jewels completed the look. I liked that she swept her thick, wavy locks over one shoulder ‒ and didn’t go for a pinned updo to show-off the style’s high neck ‒ as it better complements the flowy nature of the gown.

New Bond girl Bérénice Marlohe (she’ll be seen in Skyfall) went for a black sleeveless Roberto Cavalli gown with some intricate embellishments and plunging v-neck and nipped-in waist. The gown was typical Cavalli ‒ and I’ll leave it at that.

But what caught my eye was the sixties-inspired statement necklace she had on. Turns out it was a Swarovski ‘Rarely’ necklace. A matching bangle and Swarovski Power Multi Jet evening bag completed her ensemble.

Joshua Jackson: Spot the flower!

Again, again, check it out 😀

Guys, guys, guys, check out the boutonnière/corsage on Joshua Jackson‘s right (?) lapel. They say detail is king and it is deets like THIS that elevates your outfit from hot to… smouldering 😉 And, having a well-cut suit with the right trouser length (!!!) always helps, like Josh’s here. Erm, I’m pretty sure the boutonnière/corsage is worn on the wrong lapel ‒ it should’ve been on the left-hand side of the jacket ‒ but I’ll let him off this time because… he thought of wearing one at least! Okay, I’d have liked it if it was of a lighter shade than the lapels ‘cos at the moment, it’s not standing out much, but I’ll still take it. It’s so good to see someone else sporting flower on the lapels other than my Tom ‘God’ Ford and… a certain Mr Khanna. The more the merrier…
