It’s Fashion Week time and I bring you ‘reports’ from Lakmé Fashion Week, Winter-Festive 2012’s Model Auditions. *And breathe* A host of pretty girls, some not-so pretty and an aunty took the runway to prove to the panel at LFW that they’ve got ‘it’. While there were a few good ones, a set of ‘painfully forced’ wannabes tagged along. Take a look at what went down!
By 11.30 am the aspirants registered their name, agencies and got their height noted. (cut-off 5’7″ without heels) Once the LFW panel took their seats, the judging began.
It was really adorable to see Fashion Stylist, Aki Narula and Hair and Make-up Genius, Kapil Bhalla exchange looks at some of the awkward auditions. One just can’t help human emotions when something’s funny right? Candidly, one of the Judges told me, “Can’t help it sometimes. I just put my face behind the sheet and laugh before emerging with a straight face!”
From a pristine runway before the audition, it had skid marks by the end of the process! The ramp changed colour from stomping heels to the brutality undergone because ‘Bambi’ was wearing stilettos. Aspiring models please note: practice on heels way before you actually show up at an audition. I know, I’m being rude but… tough love honey.
I was happy for first timer, Natasha on being one of the girls chosen. I fell in love with her look the moment I saw her take on the ramp. Her coy personality really is refreshing and lets hope it stays that way. I also saw a stunning girl who reminded me of supermodel Lily Cole.
Through all of the girls auditioned, the panel finally locked on to the 7 most deserving. I’m so excited to see if this new batch of leggy models take flight or crash and burn. Lakmé Fashion Weeks are known to give India a sexy, spunky and talented bunch of models like Surelee Joseph, Archana Kumar, Lekha Raman, Rikee Chaterjee and many more. So for these new models on the block, we’ll be watching!
