Everyone loves fashion and no one can do without technology. So when Blackberry came out with the new Blackberry Porsche design, it was no surprise that fashion’s very own celebrated designer, Rocky S. (or Rocky Star as he is lovingly known) was called on. Rocky custom designed garments for the show and it was well received by the crowd. Though the crowd wasn’t a bunch of fashion editors or stylists (excluding me), they were clients, supporters and fashion enthusiasts around.

Since it was the launch of the Blackberry Porsche design, the night was all about art-meets-technology. Rocky described the collection as “inspired by the new technology and look of the phone; and the saying – give yourself the power of style”. Overall the collection was typically what Rocky does, hip, glittering and glamour-friendly. Most of the pieces were exclusive created for the show and the rest were Rocky S. statement pieces that “matched my philosophy of design”, as he put it.

Rocky’s garments aim at luxury designer wear that have a touch of elegance and sex appeal. The Blackberry Porsche collection had all the regular Rocky S. element of glittering embroidery, pretty lace and sexy see-through fabrics. Hair and make-up for the show was dark eyes, sets of berry and rosy lips and straight hair. There were clear sets of garments inspired by Baroque and new-age styles in the cocktail wear for men and women. The show-stopper was the Blackberry Porsche design phone carried by models, Candice Pinto and Tony Luke.

Amongst the models in the show, Rikee Chatterjee looked stunning and reminded me of supermodel Carmen Kass. Models Tony Luke and Robbie Mairh always bring an edge to the show. Binal Trivedi was at her feline-femme-fatal best alongside vixen, Candice Pinto. Amongst the other boys were Romey and Kabir, who are fashion favourites. Kabir has had a haircut which is a nice change from his long locks, though I liked the long hair on him. Girl to watch, Sony Kaur looked like she was at the top off her game for the night when she closed the set.

All and all, it was an entertaining night but I don’t think the Designer Hippies suited the evening with the forced electro-house “rave” tunes. A little too “cool” for school, I’d say.
