I belong to Sunglasses Addicts Anonymous. It’s true. I own some 10 odd pairs of them. But the evergreen classic for me will always be the Wayfarer. The wayfarer refers to the style created by optical lens big-wig Ray-Ban and rivals the Aviator as the most iconic design of all time.It first became popular in the ’50s and ’60s and features a unique  trapezoidal shape. Believe it or not, it was the first sunglasses to be made completely out of plastic! It soared in popularity in the early ’80s when Tom Cruise wore them in Risky Business.

It slowly went on a decline post that till about the late 2000s, when Twilight hottie Robert Pattinson started sporting them. (Does anyone see a connection between major heartthrobs wearing these?)

So the next time you’re torn between buying oversized or minimal – try the retro wayfarers which are universally flattering for all face shapes, and making a serious fashion comeback!
