Win a Shahid Kapoor Autographed Bru Coffee Hamper!
Q: Which coffee flavour do you want to come to India, and why? Please leave your answer in the comments below (also specify your city).
Bru Exotica already features gourmet coffees from Brazil, Mt Kilimanjaro and Colombia. And now, they’re ready to launch their new flavour – but they need your help to decide which one! Check out three characters from Sumatra, Ethiopia, and Guatemala, who want to bring their coffee flavours to India, and help Bru Exotica and Shahid Kapoor decide which one it should be! You never know, you could win a Shahid autographed Bru Exotica coffee hamper. :)
Flavor: Coffee from Sumatra is best known for its strong, earthy aroma and flavor. Sumatra is known for its rich Arabica blend and smooth Robusta blend of coffee. We even have different ways of processing our coffee. Its the rainforest of Sumatra that lend a fresh wet earthy aroma to the coffee. Sumatran coffee beans are some of the heaviest, smoothest, and most complex coffees in the world.
Flavor: The flavor of Ethiopian coffee has very unique elements with a mix essences. The flavors range from cherries and berries, subtle and sweet, juicy and citrusy. Ethiopian coffee is refreshing, even if it’s had with just hot water! This coffee is processed to retain a lovely cherry-berry taste even after extraction.
Flavour: The essence of Guatemalan coffee is its flavor – a little sweet and a little spicy, a little chocolaty and a little hot! Apart from its sweet, lingering aroma, Guatemalan coffee can sometimes have slight tanginess. It’s like a little surprise in our coffee. It’s made to excite your taste buds and everyone needs a cup of excitement in their life.
You can head to their Facebook page to help them decide which coffee to bring, and meanwhile let us know which one you prefer too (and why); we’ll send one lucky winner an autographed hamper! :)

Now this is interesting… I normally do not like coffee as I find it bitter and opposite to what it is suppose to do as it puts me to sleep. Hahaha! However I find the description of the Ethiopian Coffee is very interesting and also the video. I would like to try their various flavors range from “cherries and berries, subtle and sweet, juicy and citrusy!” Therefore I would like to try Ethiopian Coffee as they are sweet and hopefully it won’t make me sleepy! hahaa :P

Now this is something really interesting! Absolutely love the way you guys at MM blog these contests. <3 I'm a super coffee addict, yeah well when you're a Shanatic, it comes along haha. I've been craving, dreaming of Starbucks in India! But, this BRU – it made me crave the coffee from Sumatra. I like my coffee strong, really strong, with a perfect aroma and the coffee for Sumatra as they say – is best known for its strong, earthy aroma and flavor. Also, what makes me attract to this flavor is the way they've mentioned – we even process our coffees in a different way. So for me, a hardcore black / strong coffee addict its surely coffee from Sumatra! Budi all the way. ;) :P
Thankyou MM. Ya'll rock and I know I say this a lot. Haha. Love!

I like my coffee sweet, mild and refreshing and hence would like to cast my vote for Guatemalan coffee.I am from Pune and this city is still catching up on international cusines and flavors so it would be delight to taste something like Guatemalan coffee in the privacy of my home.

The name “Guatemala” comes from the ancient mayan meaning “land of many trees. So i believe it helps to describe the nature of coffee grown there even better.Guatemalan coffee is known as the crown jewel of Central America coffees. It is light-medium roasted to brew into full-bodied coffee with unique smoky and chocolaty undertones. Richly complex and well-balanced, this gourmet coffee from Guatemala has hints of spice in the finish that will please the senses. Hence with so many pleasing characteristics i would love to give my tastebuds a pleasure taste and sense of Gautemalan bold coffee. So i will vote for Gautemalan coffee and would like to have it in India.

I prefer Guatemalan coffee.. because of it’s tinge of tanginess in the flovour..we Indians like tanginess in all overy food, so we put some masala in the tea also.. We can’t eat our day to day meal without mirchi..The point is we are crazy for tanginess so surely we are going to love this flavour too..
July 18th, 2012 at 3:08 pm
i would prefer Guatemalan variant..for its sweet chocolaty taste..
July 18th, 2012 at 3:25 pm

I would really want Bru to get the Sumatra flavor to India.
Sumatra Coffee is a rare Indonesian coffee that is delightfully smooth with a rich heavy body, low acidity and an exotic flavor with an intense syrupy aftertaste and an earthy richness. These two lines manage to already picture myself every morning with a sumatra coffe mug in my hand at my balcony. I’m pretty darn sure such an exotic flavor will totally wake up me and widen my eyes for my early morning lectures.
India is the perfect market for any brand to experiment with. With such a diverse audience here, when a well established brand like Bru tires in to introduce something new, it will sure as hell get an overwhelming response. Since Sumatra is such a strong flavor, I’m sure it will be well appreciated.

I want Rico from Guatemalan Because I have never tasted this coffee .The essence of Guatemalan coffee is its flavor is somewhat different and has lots of surprise in it.Like its a little sweet and a little spicy, a little chocolaty and a little hot! Hi There! For one,big thanks to you guys at Miss Malini, for bringing out these awesome contests! And when the prize is autographed by the man himself,Shahid Kapoor,it just cannot get any better!
When it comes to coffee,my vote goes to Ethiopian coffee, for the following reasons:
1. Those who say Guatemalan coffee would choose it for its subtle chocolaty hint and spiciness. However, with almost every cafe selling a version of Mocha Coffee,or coffee flavored with spices like cinnamon now days,I guess we can skip it.
2. “Coffee from Sumatra is best known for its strong, earthy aroma and flavor.” Sounds good! But does it sound good to everyone, including my non coffee addicted friends?Doubtful! Most of us in India, still prefer our coffee sweet, milky, soothing.Coffee that helps us think and reflect, rather than one with a powerful kick.
3. This leaves us to Ethiopian coffee! And it appears to be perfect! “The flavor of Ethiopian coffee has very unique elements with a mix essences. The flavors range from cherries and berries, subtle and sweet, juicy and citrusy. Ethiopian coffee is refreshing, even if it’s had with just hot water!” One hears about liqueurs flavored with berries and cherries, but coffee? Not really!I am so sure, this has to be it!
Ethiopian coffee shall redefine coffee experience in India with its unique, yet likable characteristics!

It’s an addiction in me for caffeine/coffee,…it’s a friend of me for night awakening, so coffee should be of kinda strong type, like of BUDI OF SUMATRA, Sumatra is a place of great soil texture, hot climate, and superb temperature for growth of coffee, and it’s aroma…..
Actually, since ancient time, coffee was taken for a bit twisty taste, marvelous flavor, and strongness, so what’s a coffee without priority of strongness… so, Sumatran cofee will be my first and last choice.
So, it would be my best choice, even they’ll put me in rehab for my coffee addiction..
July 18th, 2012 at 8:39 pm
moreover, we have a HAQQ on sumatran coffee, as according to the video says, it’s in sumatra because of heroes from mahabharatha…. it’s a matter a proud for indians, especially of Aryan race…. budi’s sumatran coffee… no other…

I would love to taste ‘Rico from Guatemala’ coffee. It seems excellent and totally different. The central highlands of Guatemala produce some of the world’s best and most distinctively flavored coffees. The best Guatemalan coffees have a very distinct, spicy or, better yet, smoky flavor that sets them apart from all other coffees. They are very acidy, and the spiciness or smokiness comes across as a twist to the acidy tones. The finest Guatemalan coffees are medium to full in body and rich in flavor. You will like Guatemalan coffees if you like their smoky, distinctive flavor and fairly rich cup.

I would love to see Rico’s coffee on the shelves as the coffee seems to be unique, mischievous and offers hint of excitement also, the coffee has a unique flavor to it.
I feel that the coffee should be hot just like the chocolate, exciting because of the spices and unique to suit the elderly people who have not experience the vedesi taste ( taste of abroad).

India definitely needs God’s gift and Since Budi has asked for my help oh-so-cutely and India has given him not just his name, but also Sumatra its name and its most popular story, I have decided to help Budi bring his exotic Sumatran coffee to India. My vote for Sumatran Coffee as I love the earthy scent of the rains and this rainforest coffee is sure to be brimming with that awesome aroma !

For me, The Guatemalan coffee works best! I think it will work well for almost everyone in our country as the flavor matches our (Indians) personality, sweet, spicy, chocolaty & hot! And we all love surprises and little bit of excitement, so Guatemalan coffee would be perfect to keep the Monday morning blues away.

My vote goes to “Budi from Sumatra”. I had the opportunity to tast th coffee last year on my Indonesia trip and it was refreshing and the way a coffee connoisseur would love to have their coffee; pure, unadulterated tropical coffee (no tanginess or chocolaty flavor) but just the rich coffee taste and flavor.

I am from Chennai and without doubt, my vote goes to Coffee from Sumatra! because Coffee is a very serious part of our lives in South India, especially Tamilnadu ;-) Our tradition revolves around serious coffee with strong and rich blends of Arabica and Robusta of course, among other elements. For ages, there has been no alternative to the Filter Kaapi in this part of the world – because of its inherent strength (of mix), aroma and taste. So, its time to unveil some competition in contemporary form! Bring it on Bru .. if you can conquer South India, you have won the Coffee Wars ;-)

Well, well, well…….I’m a coffee addicted …that’s the reason I have tried almost every coffee flavor availible here……and frm my opinion the Guatemalan coffee should be brought to India. It is the best flavor…..and the best thing is that everytime you drink it you can experience another taste in it!! If you like a little sweet and a little spicy, a
little chocolaty and a little hot coffee then I would recommend the falvor of Guatemalan coffee!!!! I once did try the falvor of Guatemalan coffee and I just loved it!!!! There are coffee flavors out there which are very “onesided” and you sometimes really get bored of them but there are also coffee flavors of which you can’t get bored because like I just said….you get to know diffrent tastes in it which are very harmonized!!!!! It’s just like as if you get a little
surprise with every coffee you drink!! Finally I would really like to quote the last sentence of the Guatemalan coffee description because I think that this sentence really really descibes this adventure of coffee the best!! “It’s made to excite your
taste buds and everyone needs a cup of excitement
in their life.” I really hope that India choses to take the Guatemalan coffee!!!!!
Lots of Love from Germany

I definitely choose Rico, as the name says in spanish is so Ricoooooooo that all the Indian people and all over the world deserve to taste it. And not only to taste, also to live it, because coffee isn’t just the flavor it’s also the experience, the memories, the laugh of every moment (company or loneliness) in every cup. Isn’t just a beverage, it’s also the smell and the taste of a beutiful land….A gift from the American land to all of us.
And i have to say “Shahid esta riquiiiiiiiiisimoooo” and watching him is a great experience…like coffee.
So Shahid + Rico from Guatemala = Delicious experience
Saludos desde México
Also try Mexican coffee is excellent too.

We ought to get coffee from Guatemala, sweet and spicy! It’s nice to hear about the surprise element in their coffee. Just need to taste it and enjoy. Also, Rico sings and entertains so well. He need to be brought here too!
And top it with Shahid Kapoor autograph its drool worthy!

It should come from Ethiopia, reason being I find people of that country…happy and chirpy…living life in total bindaas style…am sure its must be in the coffee they brew n drink…gulping/sipping down the energy with positivity in million tonnes ! Just want to turn on the effervescent button in me kicking out the dumb-ass out from me !

Oh….I am selfish and greedy…want all the 3 flavors to be bought to India. When we have options then why limit to one?
To fight the early morning laziness, coffee from Guatemala will wake me up bright n fresh…….. When I feel sleepy, dull and over-burdened in office…subtle and sweet, juicy and citrusy cherry berry taste coffe from Ethiopia would make me rejuvenate n refreshed …making me look forward to new challenge thrown by my Manager……. At night, when I want to cuddle up, exchange sweet nothings with my lover…Coffee from Sumatra would make me fall in love with its earthly aroma, strong and bold…ready to rock !!

Coffee is something that I can’t resist!
A cup of coffee relaxes my mind & body, especially when I sip it watching the rain!
I would like to have ethiopian coffee because of the unique + new elements added to it. The elements itself sound yummy!
We can even have it with hot water, there is no milk required.
Plz support it :)

My vote for the Sumatran coffee. Being a die-hard coffee lover, I feel that Coffee beans are all about authentic richness and deep textures. I feel Sumatran Coffee does justice to that.

The word ‘coffee’ itself gives an amazing feeling & when you talk of earthy aroma & flavour, your asking me not to look any further. ;) My pick shall clearly be Sumatra, I can already feel myself sinking into that cup of coffee ! And talking of bringing it to our country, I do believe it suits what most Indian coffee lovers like – complex, yet smooth & fresh ! The other two pose good competition too, may the best win ! Haha. :)
Good luck Sumatra, looking forward to seeing you in India soon.
Thank you Miss Malini I feel a great sense of responsibility that I can choose what coffee I want to bring to India & trust me I feel amazing doing it as a coffee addict.

Rico from Gautemala :) :)
I’m someone who likes coffee for its essence…..Coffee is my pick-me-up any day of the year! The description for the Rico coffee has totally caught my interest. The interesting variations in its very essence is quite intriguing and I’m sure it’ll be a real delight to all true coffee lovers :)

Guatemalan coffee because the essence of Guatemalan coffee is its flavor – a little sweet and a little spicy, a little chocolaty and a little hot!

I vote for Kiki from Ethopia as i like the uniqueness of the flavor of Ethiopian coffee which has mix essences. Since I like cherries and berries, and have a subtle and sweet palate I think Ethiopian coffee would be a refreshing change to the coffee we taste in India! And the lovely cherry-berry taste even after extraction, is what will linger behind to leave a huge dollop of smile on my face ! – Mumbai

I would vote of the Guatemala because of the smooth strong bodied flavour. I am from Edinburgh.
July 30th, 2012 at 4:26 pm
My vote goes to Sumatra… as coffee should taste like the way coffee should be ” Strong, earthy and with an aroma to wake you up”…! My cup of coffee adds 6 hours more to my work routine.. no flavour no other taste than of the coffee beans.. pure unadulterated Sumatra coffee is for me..!
