Amul‘s ads are legendary and generally funny, but their recent one had a ring of sadness to it. One day after Rajesh Khanna‘s death, Amul released an ad hoarding referencing his films. Check it out below.
The cartoon features the Amul character as Rajesh Khanna in some of his films, and the tagline “Amul Prem” is a reference of his hit film, Amar Prem.
They also did one a few days ago for the other legend, Dara Singh:
Incidentally, these hoardings reminded me of two other cartoons I had seen recently by artist Satish Acharya:
I don’t know about you, but I feel the Amul cartoons fall a bit flat (maybe because, being a tribute, they didn’t try to be funny)… but Satish Acharya’s cartoons manage to bring a smile to your face while still being fitting tributes. What do you think?
