OMG! Remember Marv was just reminiscing over those TV shows we all grew up on? Well guess what?! We’ve got 5 DVD packs featuring all 100 episodes of Nukkad up for grabs for you right here, right now!
Following the successful release of Zabaan Sambhal Ke and Ye jo hai Zindagi Shemaroo released the nostalgic yesteryears TV Serial Nukkad on DVD recently. It has the complete 100 episodes of the serial old and new!
For anyone born in the 90s Nukkad (which means street corner) was, as the name suggests, a fun take on the common man’s struggles who all live around one street. They regularly meet and share their stories and we al remember characters like Khopdi, teacher ji, pheku and Guru fondly.
I think my favorite episode was the one with the lottery ticket, remember that?!
Psst! The Nukkad DVD set is available at all leading Music and Book Shops or online on www.shemaroo.com. The 13-DVDs boxset comes for 1299rs

Hi,
I use to watch nukkad and the to be honest I remember most of the actors still by their character names. Lot of times I have referred to Pavan Malhotra as Hari of Nukkad, so on and so forth.
The most striking feature was the camaraderie between characters. Just switch to any TV channel airing those soap operas and not one comes to the heels of what serials like Hum Log and Nukkad were. Much ink has been wasted on the internet where people have got nostalgic about the good old DD days.
Nukkad has been the pillar of my growing up years, the simple things in life and the way day to day life of that small town is overwhelming. In this era of BBMs and ipods…those simple things meant much more.
I can go on and on…but to wind up, Nukkad is not just a serial that was telecasted few years back on the national channel…it is a way of life people once had in this great country.
Thanks and best regards,
Vishal.

OH YAAAAAAAAAAAAA , I M GRT FAN OF THIS NUKKAD SERIES.WE R BROUGHT UP IN THE ERA OF 90′S SEEING THOSE PROGRAMMES WHICH WERE TELECASTED IN DOORDARSHAN.WE CAN’T FORGET THE PROGRAMMES LIKE “RAMAYAN”, “MAHABHARAT”WHICH IS THE MOST FAVOURITE SERIES IN MY LIFE , I KNOW THE EVERY FACTS OF MAHABHARAT BY SEEIN THOSE EPISODES IN DOORDARSHAN BT NOT WITH BOOKS. BUT IF YOU ASK ANY BODY OF 20TH CENTURY THEY CAN’T TELL U LITTLE OF MAHABHARAT. THERE ARE SO MORE “MUNGERILAL KE HASEEN SAPNE” OF PANKAJ KAPOOR, “MOLLA NASEERUDDIN” OF RAGHUVIR YADAV IF I M NOT WRONG. “HUM LOG”,”CIRCUS”,”CHITRAHAR” ON FRIDAY , “JUNGLE BOOK” ON SUNDAY, “CHANDRAKAANTA” AS WELL, KANVALJIT’S DETECTIVE SERIES I COULD NOT RECOGNIZE THE NAME OF SERIES.SO MANY I COUL NOT BE ENDED BY WRITING. “NUKKAD” IS ONE OF THE BEST.

One of the best serial in Doordarshan’s golden serial era, still remember it as my childhood’s most adored tv series and would be great to watch again in Dvd quality and that too to keep it as a collection for more years to come.

Laughing my head off since watched its video link.Actually, I haven’t watched this show but have heard a lot about it from my mom.I can’t really tell about it clearly, but the video was awesome, and a typical homely feeling it was, a type that we often see in our locale. I’m truly, now, a NUKKAD fan!!!

Oh WoW! Nukkad is a gem of Indian TV from a time when classy, classic shows ruled the roost. I have very fond memories of watching it with full family in attendance. Those were the golden days when we enjoyed such quality serials even though we had just two channels – Doordarshan 1 and Doordarshan 2 (in the metros). While Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi epitomised cheer and fun, Nukkad was a mirror of a struggling, all representative Indian middle-class family, so credibly (those were not the days when TRPs determined scripts) depicted.
Thru its characters, Nukkad also succintly passed on messages to the Youth of what to do and what not to (remember Majli’s struggles?). I would actually recommend we insist on these gems – like Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi and Nukkad – being made staple for all youngsters who now don’t have the benefit of a lost generation of TV gems.

Wow!!! That sounds so amazing!!!
I loved that show too much. They don’t make them anymore!
Nukkad belongs to that part of my childhood memories which will always remain fresh with me! Specially Ganpat Hawaldar!
And winning its entire series would be like icing on the cake! Do you mean to say I can have my cake and eat it too? ;-)

I used to love watching Nukkad along with my family. It was a wonderful show which reflected life as we know it – kabhi khushi kabhi gham! My favorite character was the drunkard Khopdi who really acted so perfectly and was a lovable character as he was the most honest and straight forward person in the entire show!

HAI WAITED FOR A LONG TIME TO SEE THE FRESH AIR COME BACK MEMORABLE DAYS OF DOORDARSHAN WHEN WE HAD NO OPTION OF CHANGING CHANNELS ONLY AND ONLY ENTERTAINMENT. THE QUALITY OF SERIALS WERE FAR BETTER THAN TELECASTED SERIALS TODAY. NOW LOTS OF CHANNEL BUT NOTHING GOOD DURING THAT TIME ONLY ONE CHANNEL IT WAS SO GOOD. I SPEAK ALL THIS AS I LOVED WATCHING NUKKAD, YA JO HAI ZINDAGI, FAUJI, WAGLE KE DUNIA, AND LOT MORE SERIALS LIKE THIS

I am from Bhopal.
I loved watching the serial in the 80s, and learnt a lot from the innocence of each character of the serial. The unforgettable roles of Guru, Kadar bhai, Ghansu bhikhari, Khopdi, Teacherji, Radha, Ganpat Hawaldar are all immortal like the roles of the characters in the movie Sholay.
Thank you Doordarshan for providing us such valuable and memorable serials that still have an indelible imprint on our minds
