It’s time to get set for the fashion week season, kick starting with Lakmé Fashion Week. I couldn’t help listing down 10 music tracks to get you in the mood. The list ranges from pop favourites to rock anthems that embody style and quirks that the fashion industry will always be known for. just press play!
Madonna – “Vogue”
Vogue is probably the first track one always thinks of at the mention of fashion songs. The track features everything, right from the name of the fashion bible to the dance form that embodies art of posing. Madonna’s Vogue kick starts the playlist.
Bryan Adams – “Only Thing That Looks Good On Me Is You”
The video is raw and sexy. Bryan drops names like Armani, Gucci and a few others, while the video has a runway show sequence too. Pop rock guitar elements and old school charm, even if you don’t particularly like Bryan Adams, the track is pretty apt for fashion week.
Lady Gaga- “Fashion”
Fashion’s new apostle of style, Lady Gaga’s Fashion is a typical frilly, bubble gum pop track. So all you guys who love the “Gags” trip on this one.
Fergie – “Labels and Love”
Features in the Sex and The City movie, Fergie’s Labels or Love is another track that is fashion-themed. I personally don’t think much of it, but I know there are heaps of SATC and Bradshaw fans out there; this should work for you guys!
Moby- “Beautiful”
The Devil Wears Prada featured this Moby anthem. At fashion weeks, you see the haves and the have-nots, both walking around doing their thing and playing their parts. Yeah, we know who we are! Either way, we’re all beautiful.
Jamelia feat.Depeche Mode (Victoria’s Secret mix) – “Beware Of The Dog/Personal Jesus”
This mix contained Depeche Mode’s classic, Personal Jesus while the Angels strutted down the VS runways in a toy-land set up. Pretty cool huh?!!!
Who Da Funk – “Shiny Disco Ball”
I can’t count the number of fashion shows in school, collage and proper runway shows where I’ve heard this track, when it was released. Also used in the Mtv Style Check promo a few years ago!
Right Said Fred – “I’m Too Sexy”
I just can’t complete this list without mentioning this one! Right Said Fred’s Too Sexy could easily be the cheesiest fashion-themed track from the 90’s. “I’m a model, you know what I mean…” sing along!!!
