July 30th: Happy Birthday Sonu Niigaam! His Best Songs.
He may have added a couple extra vowels to his name, but Sonu Niigaam remains one of the best voices in the industry. Today he celebrates his birthday, so I’m making a playlist of my favourite Sonu songs to listen to throughout the day. Have a listen if you want to celebrate his birthday in your own way – and do let us know what your favourite Sonu songs are!
1. Kal Ho Naa Ho – Kal Ho Naa Ho
Chaahe jo tumhe poore dil se,
Milta hai woh mushkil se,
Aisa jo koi kahin hai,
Bas vahi sabse hasin hai
2. Meri Duniya Hai – Vaastav
Tere bin main kya,
Kuch bhi nahin
3. Suraj Hua Madham – Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham
Main tehra raha zameen chalne lagi,
Dhadka yeh dil saas thamne lagi
4. Sandese Aate Hai – Border
Kee tum bin yeh ghar suna
Suna hai
5. Shukran Allah – Kurbaan
Teri baahon mein yeh jism khil gaya,
Teri saanson mein chain mil gaya
6. Saathiya – Saathiya
Maddham maddham hans de phir se,
Sona sona phir se hans de
7. Sau Dard Hai – Jaan-e-Maan
Sab mila dilnashin,
Ek tu hi nahin
8. Yeh Dil Deewana – Pardes
Uski gali mein dil ko thoda,
Phir bhi seene mein dhadakta hai yeh dil
9. Dheere Jalne – Paheli
Hona hai jo hona hai woh,
Hone se rukta nahin,
Aasmaan to jhukta nahin
10. Tumhi Dekho Na – Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna
Jaagi jaagi si hai phir bhi khwaabon mein hai,
Khoyi khoyi zindagi

Priya – I really like Ishq Bina also!
BhavikaL – They both did! If I’m not mistaken, Salim sang the chorus and Sonu sang the verses.

Thanks, Rashmi! I love Sonu’s singing – out of all the singers, I feel that he emotionally connects the most with his songs, and it really adds to the quality of the song. Adding a few favourites – Satrangi Re from Dil Se, Do Kadam from Meenaxi, and Panchi Nadiyan from Refugee.

Thanks ak! I definitely agree with you. And Panchi Nadiyan should have totally been on my list; can’t believe it slipped my mind…

I loved piyu bole from parineeta, tanhayee from dil chahta hai, in lamho ke damaan mein from jodha akhbar, aal izz well from 3 idiots but my all time favourite would be kismat se tum humko mile from pukar..actually it’s hard to list down his 10 best songs ‘coz the songs he sang were good in their own ways..actually wait, he’s a damn good singer that’s why.
