After hearing about the young elephant Sunder who was beaten badly by his handler, Pamela Anderson fired off a letter to Vinay Kore (leader of the Jan Surajya Shakti Party), who had donated the elephant to the Jyotiba Temple in Kohlapur. Anderson is asking for Sunder to be removed from the temple and placed in a sanctuary before he is made to suffer more. Read her letter below:

PETA India had made the discovery of Sunder’s abuse, and his handler has since then been on the run from the police. Sunder suffers injuries to his right eye from being jabbed with an ankus (sharp, hooked weapon). He has also been confined to chains with sharp spikes, and made to stay in one dark shed. Furthermore, wounds all over his body indicate much abuse.

Here’s hoping that Sunder gets the care that he needs.
