Whoa, it’s just been a month and we already have the third sighting of Raf Simons’s debut couture collection for Dior! Yeah, after Marion Cotillard and Rachel Weisz, Jessica Biel’s the latest to be privileged enough to sport one of Raf’s dreamy creations, to the LA premiere of Total Recall. But does she do justice to the number, like the other two have? Let’s find out, shall we?
NOOOOO! I’d go so far as to say she trampled all over this delicate dress with muddy feet!! The structured dress ‒ with conical bust, corseted waist and pocket detailing ‒ was one of my faves from the collection. It’s decidedly feminine, minimalistic yet impactful, but on Jessica it just falls flat. For starters, the hemline falls awkwardly on her: while on the model it hits a few inches below the knees, on Jessica it becomes a tea-length. And then the way she styled the gown is just so wrong. The white of the Louis Vuitton pointy toe-cap pumps and the Jimmy Choo clutch is just too rasping against the softness of the baby pink.
And then the bulky Tom Binns necklace and earrings, as exquisite as they are, in this instance, they’re wholly superfluous, and simply competes with the dress for attention. Aaaarrrrgghhh. Her hair and make-up didn’t impress either… Justin Timberlake’s missus just looks too washed out and lifeless. Such a shame for this divine dress. I want someone else to wear it out again ‒ giving it treatment that it deserves.
