Delhi-based designer Ruchika Sachdeva has created a buzz in the fashion world even though she’s a few seasons old. Making her first appearance at Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2012 she sent out a collection that was well thought out, cohesive and extremely well received.

Sticking to her signature androgynous silhouettes mixed with sharp tailoring, the collection featured blazers, maxi dresses, trousers and capes. Sheer overlays and pleating gave a new dimension to her clothing. What I absolutely loved was the dash of quirkiness with handlebar moustache motif details on the cuffs. Ghungroos were painted white and formed adornments on the clothes. Traditional Autumn/Winter colours like olive green, maroons and creams were used.

For the first time ever, she also delved into menswear and sent down four looks. A special mention must be made on the shoes of this collection – brothel creepers that will probably be coveted by all fashion editors alike. I didn’t want this collection to end. It was such a standout collection. She’s definitely a one to watch!
