Some actors would probably shy away from doing item numbers, just so that they’re taken seriously and are not simply the go-to item girl. But for Ameesha Patel, things were different – she wanted to do an item number, except the director won’t let her do it!

An item song is going to be included in her upcoming film, Shortcut Romeo, and Ameesha asked director Susi Ganesan to let her do it. However, since she plays a negative character, Susi had to flat-out refuse – he said he wasn’t willing to change the part just to allow her to do the item number. Instead, Susi is on the lookout for someone else to do the song – so I guess, Ameesha’s loss is someone else’s gain… if you could call it that.
