Is Alia Bhatt’s Look Inspired by Blair Waldorf from Gossip Girl?

When I posted about The Disco Song from Student of the Year, MissMalini reader Namrata made a comment saying that she wondered whether Alia Bhatt‘s look was inspired by Blair Waldorf from Gossip Girl. I’m a huge Blair fan, so I was kicking myself for not having made the connection earlier. Anyhow, I immediately saw the similarity, so I delved a little deeper and I found three things that Alia Bhatt’s character and Blair Waldorf have in common. One, of course, is the pricey private school education in an extravagant school, and the corresponding uniform. Here are the other two!

Blair Waldorf is nothing without her snark, and from the pictures alone, I can sense this in Alia’s character as well. There’s something about that extremely self-important way with which Alia carries herself that just screams Blair Waldorf – I’m willing to bet she’s the Queen Bee of her school as well!

Perhaps the most important of them all: Blair is famous for her headbands, and Alia seems to be wearing one almost permanently. “Wear headbands all the time” is number one on my “How to Be Like Blair Waldorf” list (I mean… no, of course I don’t keep such a list… *shifty eyes*), so it’s easy to see why headbands is the most immediate connection between the two.

Love this post Rashmi! Yes!! Totally!! Just like deepika in cocktail was totally inspired from Serena van der woodsen. U think she’s a b*t** one moment and a totally lost vulnerable soul the next. And all through you can’t make up your mind if she is the offender or the victim. Plus the styling is do similar to Serena.

Now we get to see a Blair knockoff. I think Deepika made a very good Serena .. Now let’s see how good a Blair does Alia make :)

I am a big big gg fan..saw many episodes being filmed in NYC right where I live…so liked this post…. That being said, I am not sure how I feel this blatant copying of the character… We have so much creativity back home… Why do we need to just blindily follow Hollywood… I see the resemblance in so many movies these days… Anyhow, I don’t think I would watch this movie unless it is available on Netflix :-p

My first thought when I saw the trailer waay back when it released was, Oh man, Another Blair wanna be! I love her in GG! But it really would be nice if Bollywood shows its own creativity once in a while. We have such lovely designers!

I completely am satisfied with Alia’s look in Student Of The Year. I’m badly waiting for the movie to release, after all its a Karan Johar film and there’ll be a lot of cool stuff to watch. Umm, Moreover some of the shooting part took place in my bro’s school!
Talking about Alia’s Blair inspired look, I think they could’ve copied those nude lips as well! The hairbands are too cute + the sassy chics!

Wow! Such a wannabe – this Alia chick! She is trying so hard to get the look, seriously NOBODY can be Blair and someone needs to tell her that! lol
I think the headbands are fine (cause they’re an ongoing trend) but copying the uniform is bit much!

Yes, actually! Mostly bollywood movies are entirely or schematically copied from hollywood movies. And it’s not a new thing that a style or scene is copied from some hollywood movie! Anyways, alia is hot! I like her!
