Designer Megha Grover is young and bursting with haute ideas with which she hopes to revolutionize the fashion scenario in India.

Earlier this year, she styled and dressed Himangini Singh Yadu for the Miss Asia Pacific Contest 2012 and it’s a feather in Megha’s cap as well that Himangini came back with the crown on her head.

In an exclusive interview, Megha tells us what the experience was like of dressing up an international pageant winner:

What was it like dressing Himangini for the Miss Asia Pacific 2012 pageant?
Dressing up Himagini For Miss Asia Pascific was excting. Here was an Indore girl, coy, pretty and totally unaware of her beauty and that’s what made her beautiful already. I was super excited that Himangini chose my label- Megha Grover -and picked pieces from my international collections which I previewed at Dubai Fashion Week and Miami Beach International Fashion Week.

What kind of styles did you have in mind for her?
For Himagini, we chose elegant and fun looks. For her casual rounds as well, she chose to wear pieces from my Dubai Fashion Week collection. She looked fabulous in my linen jumpsuit with Swarovski crystal embroidery! She also wore a white gown from the same collection with a peacock feather Swarovski embroidery. It was casual, yet chic!

How many sittings did you take? How was Himangini to work with?
Styling Himangini was lovely because she carries everything with grace. She worre a fun jumpsuit and looked uber cool. For one of the rounds, she wore an Italian silk, printed, statement short dress. This was from my Miami Fashion Week collection. She looked like a goddess in that dress!

What did you want to portray about India through your clothes? What fabrics / embroideries did you use?
The reason for her wearing the Italian silk dress was because my entire Miami Beach international Fashion Week collection was based on the lotus, which is the national flower of India. It has zari lotus embroidery motifs on Italian silk.
