College marching bands are no joke in the States. A common fixture at halftime shows, marching bands practice as much, and as hard, as the football teams they support. The 225 member Ohio State University Marching Band proves the point with this incredible halftime show during a recent game against Purdue University.

Also known as ‘The Best Damn Band in the Land‘ (TBDBITL), they executed unique alien formations while playing some rousing ‘apocalyptic’ songs. My favorite part was the Back to The Future portion at the 7 minute mark which featured a DeLorean racing across the field. The OSU Marching Band made even more headlines a few weeks ago with their ‘video game tribute’ performance, which has racked up nearly 14 million views on YouTube in just two weeks.

From Space Invaders, to Mario, to Halo, this has to be one of the coolest field shows I’ve seen (and it really made me want to find an old Nintendo Gameboy to play Tetris).

And in case you were wondering, yes, I was most certainly a #bandgeek in high school. I played bass drum for the Trumbull High School Golden Eagles, and we kicked some ass back in the day.  Shout out to the THSGEMB… enjoy this flashback from 1998.
